I wish it were the case, but conversion therapy has shown to be a colossal failure time and time again.
The only conversion that I support is a new life in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. If homosexuality is a chain to anyone Jesus is a chain breaker. The human being is capable of all kinds of sins and addictions. Many cannot be broken by our own strength. But it takes human will to say I don't like this and I want to change. Nobody can make a person want to change it has to come from them in a free will decision. I oppose drugs and therapy. The therapy described in the leading post is disgusting.
I see it this way:
However, a serpent deceives Eve into eating fruit from the forbidden tree (to desire women, to steal, to murder to be a drug addict or alcoholic. To lust others husbands or be filled with any of the many sexual perversions), and she gives some of the fruit to Adam. (who has now joined in sin and is prone to it) ... God later curses the serpent and the ground. God prophetically tells the woman and the man what will be the consequences of their sin of disobeying God. Then he banishes them from the Garden of Eden.
So sin has consequences. Whether you believe in Christ or not. We could get into a list of consequences of homosexual lifestyle but other sins have consequences too. Any addiction comes with devastation. A loss of life or family. Desperation and addiction.
There is a song and it goes. Your a good, good father its who you are, who you are. And I am loved by you it who I am, who I am. Jesus is a good, good father. And just like any good father would do he directs his children's path so that they will do well in life. A good father saves their children from mistakes that cause them to fail in life. To harm themselves. As much as a father is able he shields them from danger. He loves them unconditionally. He desire for them a good life. That is what Jesus does to heal people from sin. Bondage that ruins lives. Whatever it is. He breaks the chains. He is able even when we are not. It is not in our own strength but in His.
