Someone in academia - Gender Studies, no less! - finally noticed that a lot of people prefer to be private about things.

Even so.... the underlying premise of the article (that she's talking about something that is objectively normal) is achingly stupid.  I'm actually pretty sympathetic toward the people the writer describes, but what they're going through is not normal: they're people who are caught up in a war between their psychology and physiology.  I feel sorry for them; but feeling sorry is not a good reason to pretend on their behalf.
