Ever since election night, when Donald Trump won the state's six Electoral College votes, Whitmer says he's received multiple threats demanding him to change his vote.
"From people who I don't know, who are demanding that I vote for someone other than Trump," said Whitmer. "A lot of them demanding that I vote for Hillary Clinton."
Whitmer has received calls and messages on his business's Facebook page.
"No one have overtly threatened me, but I feel that it could come to that," said Whitmer. "And these people have looted. They have assaulted people. They're having these huge demonstrations in major cities, and they are just mad about this election."
Despite the threats, Whitmer says he will continue to stand behind Trump, who he believes is best suited as President.
