One of the highest priorities for the incoming Trump administration is selecting a nominee to succeed the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court.

Though it’s difficult to assess who Trump might pick from the list of possible candidates his campaign compiled during the general election, some Court-watchers are placing bets on the early favorites.

If we could get Cruz on the court the election of Trump would be worth it. But something tells me if nominated he would be a straw dog.

I'll bet that was why Cruz was at Trump tower. SCOTUS would be a good place for Cruz.

I would be happy with anyone on that list but Cruz would be the most long lasting impact and his fellow senators would easily confirm him just to get him out of their hair!

"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Cruz would be an easy sell in the Senate

So Dems and RINOs, do you want Cruz here in the Senate pissing you off for the next 30 to 40 years or do you want to kick him over to the Court instead?

I like Don Willett, too, although he wasn't a big Trump fan, I think he'd be a great pick for SCOTUS.

Yes, and Cruz is savvy enough to handle the political firestorm that will come from the far left.  When he calls in his favors in the senate and manages to get 8 Democrats not to join a filibuster, it will fracture the opposition party in the senate and demoralize the left.

ABSOLUTELY!!!

I would hope Trump and Willett could get past their differences.
(Hey, if Cruz and Trump could, anything is possible).

Because of his vast experience as a judge.

And that's exactly why he needs to stay in the Senate!

Cruz being on the wrong end of 99-1 votes in the Senate is not really helpful. Cruz as a solidly Conservative back bone of steel vote on the SC would be VERY helpful. Too many GOP picks "evolve" into squishy moderates once they get on the court. We need a solidly conservative anchor man to replace Scalia. Cruz would be that guy.

OK, I don't want to fan any flames, but we got to bring this out before the Left lobby starts this .. and if we can refute this early, we can nip this in the bud.

It seems that one of the justices being considered -- William Pryor, had a nude photo published in 1997 by a popular gay pornography site. The photo portrayed a young man stark naked and in a state of sexual arousal.

Fake? Or true?

See here: http://www.justice-integrity.org/faq/549-famed-conservative-federal-judge-accused-of-posing-nude-as-a-young-man

and here: https://justiceleaguetaskforce.wordpress.com/2016/05/19/is-donald-trump-serious-when-he-claims-that-bill-pryor-with-nude-pictures-at-badpuppy-com-gay-porn-web-site-in-his-background-is-fit-for-scotus/

There are other sites ( not mainstream ) that have had this information for YEARS.

Yes, I'm sure Cruz would write a lot of scintillating dissents.... which carry no legal weight, of course, but I'm sure you'll feel great about them.

As your "99-1 votes" suggests, however, Cruz is not even a very effective senator.  And he has no experience, and therefore no track record, as a judge.  He is, however, an ambitious politician, which to my mind suggests he's not judge material in the first place.

Wouldn't you be much more comfortable with an experienced judge whose record of decisions is well-established?

I am hearing chatter on the interwebs that Donny is really interested in this sitting Judge for the SC because he is from NY City.......

The problem to some extent is that the more well-established a judge's conservative views are, the less likely they are to be confirmed.  That's why we got a pig in a poke like Souter, and to a lesser extent, Roberts.  Cruz's legal views are very well known.  He's not a sitting judge, not bound by precedent, so he can be blunt about exactly what he believes.  As a sitting Senator, he'd have a better chance of being confirmed.

Cruz wants to be POTUS.  I can't see Cruz accepting a SC nomination and ending his chances to be president...
