Trump’s plane gets water cannon salute on way to White HouseNew York Post, Nov. 10, 2016, Sophia Rosenbaum
Donald Trump is already getting the presidential treatment.
As the president-elect’s plane took off from LaGuardia Airport on Thursday morning — his first flight since winning the election — he received a water cannon salute on the tarmac.
The ceremonial salute involved two fire trucks showering the plane in plumes of water that crisscrossed in the sky to form a makeshift arch. It is a common way to honor momentous occasions, such as the retirement of a senior pilot or the first or last flight of a certain airliner.
An FDNY fireboat performed a water salute back in 2008 to honor the 125th anniversary of the Brooklyn Bridge.
Trump was headed to Washington, DC, for a meeting with President Obama to discuss his upcoming transition to the White House. He is also set to meet with House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell in the afternoon.
