Kelly Ayotte at top of Trump's list for defense secretary

Outgoing Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H., is at the top of President-elect Trump's list for secretary of defense, according to a Washington Post report published Friday evening.

Other candidates up for the Pentagon chief slot are retired Army Lt. Gen. Joseph "Keith" Kellogg, former Defense Intelligence Agency director Gen. Mike Flynn and Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions.

Ayotte lost her re-election battle to New Hampshire Gov. Maggie Hassan by less than 800 votes, opening her up for a job offer, especially in light of her military family background and inclusion on the Armed Services Committee.

Sources said Ayotte's neoconservative background would help her serve as a liaison between the GOP establishment in Congress and Trump administration. She would also be the first woman to oversee the Defense Department.

Because she has proven herself to be feckless and clueless?  Why on earth would anyone consider Ayotte?

She is open to criticism because she has had to govern as a leader, she does not get to slide on these things because she spends a lot of time in committee rooms uttering platitudes.  She lost by only .10%, that is really razor thin.

Well, my father and his brothers served in the military, but that wouldn't mean I'm qualified to be Secretary of Defense.  I think someone at the Post still has a hangover after drowning his sorrows following Clinton's defeat.

Ayotte was McCain's handmaiden, much as Gillibrand is Schumer's handmaiden.
She tried to take back her role model mantra and did get a long way back to winning but she was down too much to overcome

She ran as a Tea Party conservative but turned out to be a staunch backer of the Kentucky Turtle.

She said that Trump was a great role model for children.  Boom..........the audio of his filthy behavior was released and her poll number went down down down.   She tried to recover and came close but just fell short
She's been McCain's side kick so maybe he'll mentor her..................Lord help us.
