I loved the 80's, best time in my life-my single 20's.  Some of the best music and movies out of the period.

Early 80s was new wave

Late 80s was hair bands.

Those were top 10 radio play bands. I was going to concerts like this and listening to WRIF out of Detroit and WWWW out of Toledo

The breakfast club resonated with our generation not because it was a great movie but because so many of us recognized ourselves in at least one of the characters.

Truly a masterpiece in that respect.

I was the Judd Nelson character all the way but I would have been chasing Ally Sheedy weirdness.

Talking heads weren't my thing then but I did see them live in Lansing at MSU when my sister was going to school.

OK well, I saw Huey Lewis and the News at a small club just before they hit the big time.  I also saw Missing Persons, Billy Joel, and B. J. Thomas (I met him).  Um..I won tickets to Michael Jackson filming the Pepsi commercial as well as to some other concerts but was unable to go.  How is that for a blast from the past list?

I saw the Police and the B52s in Philly before they were really famous in fall of 80. I'm probably the only girl from NJ who never saw Springsteen or Bon Jovi, but I did see Sinatra at Resorts intl with my folks.

'Nother victim of the 80's here. High school, US Navy and then got out and became a long haired hippie trash guitar player (see username!). Once played for a couple thousand people and opened for Molly Hatchett.  Was a really good decade...and @Cripplecreek, may the Metal gods reign forever! :thumbsup2:

Wow.  Did you sense they were on the rise?  You could certainly tell Huey Lewis was going places.  He was fantastic.

No..wasn't into him. Really wanted to see Asia but they didn't come to my college. Bummer. We really tried to get them.

Now I want to buy a Huey Lewis and the News cd.

BTW, my husband and I also liked Foreigner.  "I've been waiting for a girl like you" was our song.

I think of that band from the 70s for some reason. The first time I heard of them they were on Saturday Night Live with the real good cast, John Belushi etc, and they did "Cold as ice"

P.S. that's a nice song for a romantic song.

I grew up in an isolated rural town where we were hard rock pretty much all the way.

Right there you go. The decade was worse than the Depression in my opinion. Remember smelly denim jackets...

I liked the preppy look of the 80s.  But the 70s had cool suede/fringe jackets.  Other than that the 70s were a fashion disaster.

I was a total preppie in the 80s and 90s. Never once had big hair around where I lived. Only saw it on TV, on Peg Bundy and Marge Simpson.

I think it's everyone's favorite Talking Heads song, with "And She Was" as number two

I do have a collection of bad leisure suits and I do where them on occasion to dinner parties to irritate people.
