The article in the Salt Lake City Newspaper said that he was satisfied with the SCOTUS gay marriage decision, that he would not seek to change it, and that he was uncomfortable with laws in that regard. IOW, nothing about states' rights there. See what you want to see. McMullin is pro- gay marriage in the evasive way many candidates are for it.
I am going to be very honest with you. It doesn't matter who I vote for they are not going to win because I am not voting Trump or Clinton. So I have no motive to defend anything other than my Faith in Christ.
This is what the Bible says about unbelievers.

I wrote to you in my letter not to associate with sexually immoral people—
not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. But now I am writing to you not to associate with anyone who bears the name of brother if he is guilty of sexual immorality or greed, or is an idolater, reviler, drunkard, or swindler—not even to eat with such a one. For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. “Purge the evil person from among you.”
I used to get all worked up about defending marriage. Honestly there is no such thing as gay marriage but our government has allowed them to call it that. I think that they would get the same rights with Civil Unions. Gays exist its a fact of life. I don't worry about other people's sin unless it is forced upon me or my family. Take for instance the trans bathroom issue. I would fight that tooth and nail. I am a mother. So to think of girls in school locker rooms showering with people who have male genitalia makes me mad. I am sorry they are confused about who they are but we don't need to force their confusion on everyone else. Men in women's bathrooms target, school. That matters to me.
But the marriage equality thing is already done. Militant gays who really did not just want equality but have been driven to attack tradition and Holy Matrimony won the right to call themselves married in court. I say there is no such thing. And it really does not affect me in any way or form. And once again as I have in the past I have to examine what is important. I think the scripture is clear....not at all meaning the sexually immoral of this world, or the greedy and swindlers, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world. We are in the world but not of it and we cannot expect unbelievers to understand, or have a reverent fear of the Lord. We don't expect them to be bound by the laws that are written in our hearts.
I do not think that homosexual "marriage" is going to be reversed. There are much more important things to worry about. And I don't see any moral presidential candidate choice to keep this country from totally being flushed into the sewer.
As for McMullin. He demonstrates strength and a good understanding of foreign policy. He speaks like an adult. I could see him meeting with foreign leaders and making good choices for the country and that is enough in this election.
