 Clinton casts Trump aside

With two weeks to go, the Democrat will focus on the Senate and hope Trump keeps himself in the headlines.

For the two days leading up to the final debate showdown in Las Vegas, Donald Trump was driving a message that was unnerving some on Hillary Clinton’s campaign team.

Instead of threatening to bring forward new Bill Clinton allegations or mimicking Hillary Clinton falling down, Trump seemed to be honing a plausible message for a candidate running as a populist outsider: draining the swamp of Washington, D.C., and advocating for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on Congress.

Here was the Trump that Clinton feared much more than one who went “scorched-earth” — the toned-down, issues-oriented version of the candidate who managed to tighten the race to a dead heat between mid-August and mid-September. Then Trump stepped onto the debate stage at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Wednesday evening — and didn't mention those political reform plans once.

But one thing turned out to be entirely predictable — he always took the bait.

Yep.  And that's what killed him in the debates and in this campaign.  Clinton put the Gold Star Khan parents on stage and Trump spent a week trashing them for taking him on.

She brought up Alicia Machado, and Trump spent another week going after her.

And she will no doubt come up with something else during these last two weeks and Trump will chase THAT down a rabbit hole.

He's good at dishing out personal insults, but he can't let a single one slide and it has cost him dearly.

Seems pretty scripted. Trump starts talking potential problems at the same time Clinton starts talking Senate.

The public then accepts the inevitability of her winning and worries about the next sniny object.

Well played GOP. Well played. Of course a lot of us noticed months ago. Even years ago with McCain torpedoing Palin, then confirmed it with Romney. Too bad no one listened.

In television commercials and on the debate stage, Clinton’s most effective contrasts and attacks have been to simply repeat Trump’s own words back to him, or to air raw footage of Trump speaking. “Donald Trump has been a victim of self-inflicted wounds throughout this campaign,” said Clinton’s senior strategist, Joel Benenson.

The anti-Trump ads I am seeing on TV are just that.  Repeating Trump's words.  Very effective.  Makes you 2ant to cry that he is the GOP candidate,
