Trump calls for congressional term limits

Donald Trump on Tuesday said he would push for congressional term limits if he’s elected president — an expansion of his new campaign pledge to “drain the swamp” in Washington that comes as he propagates the conspiracy theory that the election will be rigged against him.

“If I'm elected president, I will push for a constitutional amendment to impose term limits on all members of Congress,” Trump said at a Tuesday afternoon rally in Colorado. “They've been talking about that for years. Decades of failure in Washington and decades of special interest dealing must and will come to an end.” Trump did not specify how long those limits should be.

Yes, Donald.  Congress is going to pass an amendment to limit their time in office.

This has already been tried and it failed.

Plus, at this point, Trump's suggestion is nothing but a tantrum.  He wants to get back at all those Republicans who have told him to kiss their butts.

He's right. There should be term limits, for both Congress and the courts.

It won't happen though.

That is Trump speak for he wants a firing squad to eliminate any congressman who disagrees with him - and that goes for anyone else, too.  Let him be trounced in the election so he is never heard from again.

Sounds great shouted out to his adoring fans - but they must have barely passed high school civics. A Constitutional Amendment is difficult enough - but calling for one that limits their term in office? May as well ask for one that says every American has the right to 40 acres of gumdrops and a unicorn.
