Pence tells donors he's sticking with Trump
By Nikita Vladimirov
Donald Trump's running mate Indiana Gov. Mike Pence on Saturday told a group of GOP donors that he remains fully committed to the Republican nominee despite growing pressure from some party leaders to have Trump step down from from the ticket.
“Governor Pence spoke enthusiastically about Mr. Trump, his pro-growth economic policies and the movement he’s begun,” said Marty Obst, the director of the campaign's vice presidential operations, as reported first by the Wall Street Journal.
Obst added the donors were more concerned with policy than they were with Trump's statements from 2005.
“Several guests remarked that they didn’t want to get caught up trying to dissect every statement by Mr. Trump,” he said. “They were focused instead on his message and his positions.”
Several top Republicans have expressed outrage after a newly released tape showed Trump making lewd comments about women.
Some, including former presidential candidate Carly Fiorina, went as far as to suggest that Pence should replace Trump at the top of the Republican ticket.
