Hitler was drug addict; veins collapsed due to injections: Book

LONDON: Adolf Hitler was a gibbering "super- junkie" whose veins were all but destroyed by thousands of opiate injections and the Nazi dictator's heavy reliance on drugs was behind his "increasingly erratic" decision-making in later stages of World War II, a new book has claimed.

According to Norman Ohler, an award-winning German author, the Fuhrer became addicted to a heroin-like substance called Eukodel which was prescribed following a nervous breakdown in 1944.

Ohler's book 'Blitzed: Drugs in Nazi Germany', which British historians have praised as a "remarkable" work of research, argues that the heroin-like opiate was largely to blame for Hitler's erratic and paranoid behaviour towards the end of his life, The Telegraph reported.

Yes, I know it's an old thread, but I didn't want to start a new one just to post this interesting find from twitter: video of Hitler exhibiting signs of meth addiction (the poster also talks about V. Zelensky's drug use, about which I know nothing - my interest was the Hitler video).

Zelensky is Hitler-like, whose world conquest plans were foiled by Putin? So Putin claims, or some similar nonsense.

Meth use to keep awake and "alert" was not uncommon in the 1940s, including by some/many US Army supply truck drivers. So Hitler might have used Meth to keep awake/alert during the war. I've not seen actual evidence for this, though records and body tissue samples that might provide direct evidence probably do not exist.

OTOH, Goering was a known painkiller addict. He was in a car accident in the early 1920s, IIRC, and got addicted during his recovery. He never went through cold-turkey withdrawal, and his drug addiction may have contributed to his much-mocked corpulency. During WW1 Goering was a fighter ace and a successful squadron leader. Going Nazi was quite a waste of intelligence and capability.
