Former accountant refutes Trump’s tax brilliance: I did all the work

By Nolan D. McCaskill

Donald Trump’s former accountant challenged the Republican presidential nominee’s assertion that he “brilliantly” used tax laws to avoid paying federal taxes.

“I did all the tax preparation. He never saw the product until it was presented to him for signature,” Jack Mitnick, a former Trump family accountant, told Inside Edition’s Steven Fabian in an interview broadcast Tuesday.

At a rally in Pueblo, Colorado, on Monday, the real estate mogul responded to the bombshell New York Times report published Saturday evening that disclosed a nearly $1 billion loss in 1995 that could have allowed Trump to avoid paying federal income taxes for up to 18 years.

With all his deductions and business dealings and wealth, I don't find it so unusual or scandalous that an accountant would be doing his taxes
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

That's not the point.   The point is that Donald took credit, as usual, for something somebody ELSE did (and was getting paid by him to do).  If Donald were even half as brilliant as he claims to be, he would never have had those enormous losses, needing several bailouts, in the first place.  Fred Sr. must be rolling over in his grave at junior's ""business acumen"".

I still say that based on his actions, it will eventually come out that Trump's father set up a team of sorts to guide his idiot son through life. When they are in control, he profits. When he's in control he fails. Look at his polls when the handlers leash him vs when he's off the tether.

That would actually be the brilliant part of the whole episode.

No doubt.  Trump has always been a "problem child".  That's what military boarding school is for.. (out of sight, out of mind, out of hair)....lol.

So Trump, a very rich man by anyone's estimate, hire smart people to save him money.

Wow, shocker.

Wow, shocker.
This accountant is just trying to drum up business with others who need his unique skills. Trump says he hires the best, so far this is the best evidence of that I have seen.
“The way I see it, every time a man gets up in the morning he starts his life over. Sure, the bills are there to pay, and the job is there to do, but you don't have to stay in a pattern. You can always start over, saddle a fresh horse and take another trail.” ― Louis L'Amour
