Family Unit Apprehensions on U.S. Southwest Border Up 97% in FY 2016

(CNSNews.com) – United States Border Patrol statistics on the apprehension of “family units” [1] on the southern border of the country show an increase of 97% from the same period last year and even more than in fiscal year 2014 when the “surge” of unaccompanied alien children and family units took place on border.

The number of unaccompanied alien children is also up this fiscal year, 52% higher than in FY2015.

In the first eleven months of fiscal year 2016 (Oct. 1 through Aug. 31), there were 68,080 family units apprehended at the southwest border--up from 34,565 for the same period in fiscal year 2015, representing a 97% increase.
