You really have to be kidding me.  You talk as though it were necessary to dig long and hard to find things in Trump's background....

No, I know you don't.  I'm just wondering why the compulsion to keep posting that stuff.  Do you really think it is that interesting, or that there aren't more pressing issues?

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
I'm not sure I understand.  Based on the first and last two sentences, I thought you were implying that Trump did not actually get the evangelical vote.  That was an illusion, and the truth was that was Cruz' vote all along.  But then there's the bolded sentence of "Trump got the support by default that might have gone to Cruz", so I'm not quite sure what you meant there.

I really have no idea either way.  Just curious.
Very simple. I honestly believe absent the well-timed smear campaign Cruz would have had much more support in the Southern Primaries among evangelical Christians.
When those voters, in response to that smear campaign against Cruz dropped support for Cruz, they shifted support to the next best recognized name in the campaign. Trump got those votes, and performed better than anticipated while Cruz did worse.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

@Maj. Bill Martin

Why do you characterize it as a "compulsion?"  This is a political forum, is it not?  Should I post recipes?

Nah, it won't be Conservatives who destroyed it.

It will be the people who backed personality over principle and decried their Conservatism in the process.

Unfortunately, "conservative" is pretty well shot as meaning much of anything, because so many were allowed to run around calling themselves "conservative" when they were just another leftist Republican.

It would be like Coca Cola allowing every cola out there to call itself "Coke".

It seems as if history is "attempting" to repeat itself this election.  In 2008 I held my nose and voted FOR Sarah Palin despite Snake McCain, whom I detested (a decision which I now regret) in order to vote against Obama.  In 2012 I voted against Obama by voting for the RINO Romney.

And now, this year, I actually like Mike Pence....but I'm still in the position of detesting his running mate, Trump.  In fact, I have come to detest Trump even more than I detested McCain (hard to believe, really).  So no....I will not be holding my nose this year like I did in 2008 and in 2012.  And the results of that 'no vote' are on the idiots that keep giving us no good choices for leaders.....

not on me.

In fact, I'm coming to the conclusion that continually giving We, the People no valid choices for leaders is all part and parcel of the leftist agenda.  It's all a portion of that "nudge factor".  Keep the masses pacified...until strong enough to subjugate them completely.

@XenaLee If you look at the cartoon, I think we are politically just past the divider where the two lanes merge.

Apparently "some" posters here would have us go bake cookies or make a sammich or something equally domestic instead of posting here on the forum.  The concept of us (anyone that is not on board the Trump Train To Hell) actually voicing our opinions (gasp!) on a political forum is something to be reviled by Trump supporters.  In my opinion....they are every bit as radically fascist as the anti-constitution groups of bullies trying to silence non-leftist students on college campuses.  They would silence our voices and opinions here....

if they could.

And that is proven time and time again by how many of our posts get deleted in their "safe spaces".

No.  But aren't there issues of substance with respect to the future of the country? Immigration, taxation, regulation, the Supreme Court, etc..?  It's turned into porn videos, beauty contestants, and Trump's tax returns.

Eh, on second thought, nevermind.  I understand where you are coming from, so there's no point in discussion this further.

@XenaLee
I have been off the GOPlantation for months. Constitution Party also, and I was looking as soon as the Primaries were over, partly because we didn't get one. I was already ticked off with the GOP and the lack of support for opposing the Obama Agenda, but when there was no caucus, and no presidential primary (ND), that tore it, and I went shopping for a party with a platform I could agree with. The Constitution Party Platform was it.

What it comes down to, I think, is that we all understand the baseness and corruption of Democrats.  We don't expect to see such a candidate pushed by our side...so to speak.  There's understandably a great deal of backlash.

The moral character of the president matters a great deal.  Without it, you can't expect satisfaction with the courts, or immigration, or any of it.  Tabloid sleaze is Trump's essence; you can blame him for the nature of this election.
