The differences between the people who identify as alt-right and what people who are defined as mainstream conservative is not as cut and dried as many people, including the writer of this article, believe.
Certainly, I consider myself a mainstream conservative....as do many Trumpsters. But many MCs conflate the alt-right with Trumpsters or Trumpism.
That's where I would disagree. Because a great pct. of people who could be call Trumpsters (as different from people simply voting for Trump because he's not Hillary) are not racists or white nationalists like the people depicted in the article.
I would bet most Trumpsters became so to stop the flow of illegal immigrants into the U.S. What good American can disagree with that premise?
But after reading articles in Taki's Mag, American Renaissance, and VDare among some alt-right web sites, not even all the writers are hardcore white nationalists/racists as the writers claims.
And he makes a mistake calling John Derybshire's version of the Talk for white people "a racist screed."
The simple fact is it is dangerous to be around large groups of young blacks....if you're white or black, or whatever color. Derbyshire in his Talk even says it's admirable to seek out black people who are good people.
But many of the truths in his version of the talk are undeniable. When you have arch-libs like Jesse Jackson and Mark Cuban saying some of the same things as Derbyshire wrote about, then we can agree that it is not necessarily racist to tell the truth.
For many decades the liberal media (and most of what is considered conservative media) put the clamps on any talk of the size of black crime and pathology. So they shouldn't be surprised that many people go to sites where they can read truthful articles about black pathology.
I guess what I found most disturbing about much of the alt-right sites was the anti-Semitism I found among many of the commenters on the articles. It seems many of the people who make comments in those alt-right forums are decidedly anti-Semitic....even though some of the posters say they're Jewish. And to be sure many of the alt-right commenters do not like anybody who is not of northern European/Aryan origin. Slavs and meditteranean types are not wanted either even though they're caucasians.
Alt-right writers are many times just writing about the disgust many Americans have with wimpy pols who blame whites and white Christians for all of America's problems. And they are right in their belief that not all ethnic groups are exactly the same in inherited intelligence or behavior. I have yet to read any alt-right writer who I would classify as a racist in the nastiest sense of the term. Even Jared Taylor, who believes in creating an "all-white" country is not only married to a person or Japanese descent, he says he does not hate people of different ethncity. His belief is that the U.S. should be basically populated by white people with white interests.
That is not my belief. I believe in an America whose citizens all agree on the primacy of the constitution and the rule of law. There is no color code in my America, and there are no favored groups based on ethnicity or color. Why should I reject a Thomas Sowell and accept a Michael Moore? People acknowledge that people are not born exactly equal in ability with other people. Men and women are inherently difference. But everybody is equal under the law. But nobody gets special benefits because of what some people of another ethnicity did to people of their ethnicity in the past. Everybody has an equal opportunity to succeed or fail in life with the understanding that life is not fair and positive results cannot be guaranteed. Charity for the less fortunate is fine, but subsidizing indolence is bad.
