Kaine Believes Clinton Will Win Texas

Vice presidential nominee Tim Kaine is confident he and Hillary Clinton will win Texas in November and break a long tradition of Republican presidential candidates winning the Lone Star State.
Kaine, a Virginia senator, pointed to his home state as evidence that team Clinton knows what it takes to flip a state from red to blue.
"I even can recognize a little bit about you because of what we [did] in Virginia. See, Virginia was as reliably Democratic for a very long time as Texas was," Kaine said Friday, reports the Washington Examiner. "Virginia then went over heavily Republican about 15 years or so before you guys made that same move statewide."
Kaine said Texas, which has voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980, will change colors on Nov. 8. Texas has 38 electoral votes on offer, and the latest RealClearPolitics average has Trump leading.
"We take Texas very seriously, Hillary and I do," Kaine said. "We look at what you're doing … And we are very, very proud of what you're doing. We can see the spirit, we can see the energy, we can a see a state that has been a red state moving in the best direction.
"You're going to see the same thing happen in Texas that we saw in Virginia."
More than 60 percent of Trump backers in Texas would support their state succeeding from the U.S. if Clinton wins, a recent poll found.
