Emerson College Poll: Clinton 45%, Trump 39% in Illinois

The latest poll from Emerson College shows Hillary Clinton leading Donald Trump by only six points in Illinois, where Barack Obama won by over 16 points against Mitt Romney in 2012.

Emerson has the race at Clinton 45%, Trump 39% in a four-way race. Libertarian Gary Johnson received 6% support in Illinois, while the Green Party’s Jill Stein pulled 3%. Seven percent of respondents said they were undecided.

Emerson’s most recent national poll showed Trump just slightly ahead of Clinton, 43% to 41%, well inside the poll’s 3.4% margin of error. This was also a four-way survey, in which Johnson drew 9% and Stein had 2% support.

Down by 6 in Va. but down by this same margin in Illiniois, a deep blue state, in the 4-way race. I don't know if they did the survey as only Clinton vs. Trump, it doesn't sound like it.

This poll is nonsense.  Emerson only polls landlines.

Maybe, but 538 gives them a "B" rating.

The polls have been so erratic that Nate Silver has been renamed as Nate Bronze.

I've heard of Emerson Polls; so they aren't brand new.

The last poll in Minnesota Sept. 12-14, has Trump 6 points down; and that was before the Mall terrorist attack. One pundit said that could have an effect. So, that state may have even a narrower margin now.  http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2016/president/mn/minnesota_trump_vs_clinton-5591.html

Conflicting polls have Trump down in Wisconsin by 3 or by 7.

Independent voters are breaking for Trump by a large margin.

I've heard it before, on cell phones, people often don't answer if they don't know who it is. I don't. I hope I haven't been polled.

I don't think Trump has any chance of winning Illinois… :)

I -DO- think that Mark Kirk will go on record as being the last Republican senator elected from that state...

It's still nice to be in the game a bit, in striking distance, maybe Trump won't be able to win such states;

But they say something like 90,000,000 eligible voters last time, did not vote. Those numbers could do anything.

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/politics/story/2012-08-15/non-voters-obama-romney/57055184/1

Whatever the number is, I'm often an optimist while at the same time, pragmatic. I don't expect the impossible to happen.
