Clinton outdoing Trump in Pennsylvania, a must-win state
« on: September 18, 2016, 07:11:01 pm »
PHILADELPHIA — Hillary Clinton’s campaign is aggressively outworking Donald Trump in battleground Pennsylvania, a state the billionaire businessman can scarcely afford to lose and still hope to become president.

Despite polling well in Pennsylvania throughout the summer, Clinton’s team is nevertheless bearing down in a state her party has carried in six straight elections. They are ratcheting up advertising and dispatching their top supporters to Pennsylvania, from Bill Clinton to Joe Biden to last week’s visit from President Barack Obama.

“We’ve got to fight for this thing,” Obama thundered at a rally in Philadelphia last Tuesday. “I need you to work as hard for Hillary as you did for me. I need you to knock on doors. I need you to make phone calls. You’ve got to talk to your friends, including your Republican friends.”

How is PA a "must win" state? W didn't win PA in 2000 or 2004.

Bush won New Mexico and Colorado in 2004.  Trump won't win either.

I'll say it once and I'll say it again, if Trump wins the popular vote, than statistically speaking he will most likely win enough EV to beat Hillary, period.

Winning the popular vote (outside of winning the EC of course) is the most statistically sure way to win the Presidency.

If Trump can win PA, the Clinton Crime figure falls short of 270, assuming, of course, she wins all of the other more likely states for her.

I don't speak for him but I do believe Al Gore would disagree.

Well he sure as hell won't win the popular vote.  And the best I figure re: electoral votes that he will get is around 240-250.  It will be close, but close only counts .....as they say.....with horseshoes and hand grenades.   No ceegar for Donald.

Reread carefully what I wrote. Carefully.

Maybe maybe not. He has the momentum. RCP average shows him just a hair behind.

He won't win the popular vote.  He's up 7 in Texas.  Romney and McCain won Texas by 15 and 13, respectively.  Clinton will win reliably blue states by more than Trump will win red states.

RCP has him down by .9, with a lot of older Hillary polls giving her her lead.It wouldn't be a long shot to have him pull ahead.

Thanks, but I read every word.  The popular vote is meaningless.

You clearly didn't, or you just didn't understand it. Try again.

Either way you look at it....(the impending election/electoral disaster).....

it's going to be a squeaker rather than a landslide for either one, I'm betting.  Which could, as it usually does, open the door for Democrat (and Trump) screeching about endless recounts.  Stock up on popcorn, IOW.

The RCP average factors in the anomaly that is the LA Times poll.  Without it, he trails by a larger margin as he did prior to RCP factoring it in.

Why the USC/L.A. Times tracking poll differs from other surveys

Thanks but I'll pass.  I'm not into the circular argument.

I said statistically speaking, winning the popular vote is highly likely to win you the presidency, despite the EC.

do you understand that?
