Priebus: RNC could block Kasich, Bush from running again

By RUDY TAKALA (@RUDYTAKALA) • 9/18/16 11:48 AM

Ohio Gov. John Kasich and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush could be barred from seeking the Republican Party's presidential nomination in the future if they refuse to get on board with Donald Trump, party chairman Reince Priebus said Sunday.

"I think people need to get outside this Beltway and get on the road," Priebus said in an interview with CBS host John Dickerson. "This is probably one of the biggest movements as far as people across this country in modern history.

"Where we're at with the voters, one of the last polls I saw ... Republicans, I think it was about 91, 92 percent, we need to do a couple of percentage points better than we're doing as we move forward. Look, people who agreed to support the nominee, who took part in our process, they used tools from the RNC. They agreed to support the nominee. They took part in our process," Priebus said.

"We're a private party. We're not a public entity. Those people need to get on board. And if they're thinking they're going to run again someday, I think we're going to evaluate the nomination process, and I don't think it's going to be that easy for them. I think these are things that our party's going to look at in the process. I think people who gave us their word, used information from the RNC, should get on board," he added.

Priebus said Republican voters were asking the RNC to take action against those who pledged to support the nominee but went back on their word, including Kasich and Bush.

"People in our party are talking about what we're going to do about this. There's a ballot access issue in South Carolina. In order to be on the ballot in South Carolina, you actually have to pledge your support to the nominee ... So what's the penalty for that? It's not a threat. It's just a question," Priebus said.

Priebus is a douche. He's now threatening life-long Republicans when he has a firm lip-lock on a New York liberal Democrat?

Priebus hopefully's gone after this year.

If they can't stop a Democrat like Trump, then there is no point

Trump married the GOP establishment that he pretended to hate and wanted to overthrow.

The GOP is in it's death throes.

Let it die.

The corpse will be folded into the Democrat Party Oligarchy where it already lies.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

This can only happen if Trump wins.

I'd say this makes a very good reason why he shouldn't.  (among many, many others)

And if I were a politician, I'd make sure to respond to Preibus... in the news, so that he's on notice about it.

And yet they don't have to pledge support to the party to actually vote in South Carolina's open primary. Does anyone else see an issue with this or is it just me?

Also I note that Ted Cruz's name was not mentioned. Would they dare effectively kick Ted Cruz out of the party? That would set off a revolt.

Might be why he wasn't mentioned.

That sir, is a brilliant question, I wish I had asked.  And at the risk of being labeled a brown nosing glad hander, I must confess my admiration at your ability to hold your cards close and cut to the quick.  Having read many of your posts I suspect you have no love for Bush or Kasich, but instead of revealing your hand, and bad mouthing a couple RINOs you ask, in seven short words, the burning question that betrays this whole charade.  I believe that takes skill.

I have praised your persuasive skills before, and even been scorned by my colleagues for it.  Others will see in you an unassuming, perhaps poorly educated nobody/everyman...I see a deceptively worthy adversary for the intellectual path of conservatism.

Rence....

Last Friday at 1:28 p.m. I got a call from RNC wanting $'s.

I left a little a comment for you and Trump when they called.  Double it

Regardless of any circumstance, Rinse Pubic has no authority to ban anyone from the GOP.

I haven't agreed with Priebus on anything.

This is the first sensible thing he has said.
