Thanks for answering.  You have made the divide very clear.

If Cruz were making calculations based on his furthering his political future, he would have jumped on the Trump bandwagon as have so many others. But, sometimes people act out of courage and with integrity, even if in doing so they are perceived badly by those who want them to "get with the program" and "take one for the team".

Your answer however is all about "calculation" and "political reality".

So - it comes down to politics vs being a good, upright person.

It's no wonder you didn't understand my last post. You seem unable to fathom that Cruz made his decision not to support Trump for selfish reasons. I have no qualms with Cruz's politics, and don't care to see him replaced in the Senate, but he made his bed, and if he faces backlash it will be his own doing. The voters spoke, and they wanted Trump. He is letting his ego get in the way and its making him look like a bad loser (the same ego Trump is criticized for having). I don't even think its that the voters disagree with his politics, its simply that he's a career politician, and the voters wanted a candidate with different credentials this time.

@Axel, thank you for your pompous and condescending answer.  You are at least consistent.  (See how that sort of attitude comes across?)

What you fail to understand is that your cynical assesment of Cruz' character and motivations say more about you than about Cruz (or, me for that matter).

As for the voters speaking, yes, 38% of them wanted Trump.  62% wanted someone else.  Not much of a stick to beat the non-Trumpers with.  More like a twig.

Cruz did not support Trump after all the vicious and slanderous personal attacks on him and his family. He is perfectly entitled to do so.

Could the Senator be feeling political vulnerability for his decree?   I bet he's wishing he had just skipped the convention.   ^-^

After the initial Trump-instigated hissing and booing, Ted Cruz has come out on top.  He said vote your conscience ... and, interestingly enough, most trumpers thought that meant ... don't vote for Trump.

Go figure.

Ted Cruz is more popular than he's ever been.

Nice spin @Sanguine.  But a Trump loss will splatter all over Rafael's political career.  He knows it, I know it, and now you know it, too.

Welcome to the real world.   888high58888

So, in your parallel universe, Trump loses but that's okay because it hurts the person you continually refer to as 'Rafael.'

The hatred that the little trumpers have for Ted Cruz is a fascinating phenomena.

Any Cruz thread brings the trumpers out of their safe space over there at the top, frothing at the mouth to discredit Ted Cruz.

In their hearts, they know he's right.  (Remember that)

He is obviously superior to their idol in every way.  He's smart, he's conservative, he's articulate, he's a good person and he cannot be corrupted.

MJ

Cruz Campaign put out a video saying Rubio said "there are no answers in that book" per the Bible, Rubio said in fact, the answers are in that book, Cruz campaign also said Kasich received Soros money,  both of these incidences, the Cruz campaign apologized for.

Too, we know Cruz and Trump had a rally together and in many reports, a sort of alliance.

But I see, now it's different.

Ted isn't up for re-election this year.

If he had skipped the convention, the Trumpcult would be attacking for that too. Instead he went and made a fine speech.

And had he endorsed the lifelong New York liberal Donny Trump he would have lost the respect of many real conservatives, those not willing to sacrifice their principles to support said liberal.

Why on earth would you want that, @Right_in_Virginia?  You want to destroy one of the few conservatives in Congress?  Why?

Oh, and as for "spin" that word doesn't mean what you seem to feel it means.

Revenge.

Also, one of the earliest reasons Trump supporters gave for their support was that Trump would "Blow up the GOP".

This revenge isn't against just Cruz, but the party and everyone in it.

You mean like the alliance the Donald had with the Clintons?  They were best buds until the Donald decided he was bored with his life and wanted to do something different.  Too bad he didn't just decide to buy a remote Island and move to it.

I knew somebody would have them.  Thanks.  They need to be posted over and over again.

Of course the only ridiculous reply they have to them is that the Donald was a businessman doing what businessmen have to do to operate in New York.  To that I say BS.

He never had to do business in New York in the first place. This is America, there are 50 states where he could've built an empire bigger than that. Yet he chose to play in corrupt New York City.

I don't @Sanguine

Ted Cruz made a cold, hard political calculation in not supporting Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for POTUS, at the RNC Convention, in prime time.   He chose it, he owns it.  His calculation says he will live politially larger because of it, the political reality says the opposite.

So, if you want to know about the political destruction of one of the few conservatives in Congress, you'll need to ask Ted Cruz.  All his wounds resulting from his (mis)calculation are self-inflicted.

I have a lot more respect for someone who does the right thing and not the politically expedient thing.  Used to be a time that's what conservatives thought.  Now we're supposed to like the guy with a big mouth and pea brain.

While Trump's liberal defenders employ it often, the business angle seldom applies.

Trump has given to democRATs all over the country including in states where doing so has not necessarily benefited his business.  He supported liberals because he is one.

Cruz is clearly supporting the Republican nominee over Hillary who is 'manifestly unfit to serve'

You set yourself up for it, suggesting Cruz isn't playing politics and being a "good" and upstanding person. If you truly believe he isn't playing politics, you've been duped more than you could possibly imagine.

The voters spoke, and there's no getting around that. Trump won a majority of pledged delegates, which is the only number that matters. No doubt he would have had well over 50% of the total vote share as well if he had only been up against 2-3 people like HRC.

You say "no doubt" as though your guess as to what would have happened is automatically true.  In that you're acting essentially like the Obama supporters in 2008, believing that anything you imagine would automatically be true.  As for your take on Cruz, it's just not true.  End of story.

No, the voters were lied to by the Orange Slanderer. Trump cheated with lies, insults and slander.  Eventually even the easily led will catch on.  It may be too late, but eventually....and they will have themselves to blame.

Trump cheated? LOL!

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I'm sure you were pitching a big fit when Trump claimed Cruz "cheated" in Colorado (he didn't). Now you're here doing the same thing Trump did, while criticizing Trump for doing it! Pot calling the kettle black.

Ted Cruz is warning that the DEMS could have massive wins in Texas, but my hunch is that the DEMS are going to have massive wins all over the country.  I predict (and I hope my gut feeling is wrong) we are going to see DEM landslide victories throughout the country, including the White House.  All this hope and hype that Trump is doing so well is just that; hope and hype!

My take on Cruz is my take. You can take it or leave it, I really don't care.

Trump easily took 50% of the vote share in primaries once the field was whittled down. I have no doubt he would have easily cleared 50% had there been fewer candidates from the get go.
