Mike Pence, GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump’s running mate, told the news media at a press conference Thursday that he no longer wants to be called a vice presidential candidate.

The Indiana governor, an evangelical Christian, explained that he opposes the word “vice” on religious grounds. Pence said that the Bible has strict prohibitions against vice. He said the word “vice” means, among other things, “immoral” or “wicked behavior.”

“That’s not who I am, and that’s not who I want people to think I am,” he said. “I can’t in good faith willingly condone a word I find deplorable without violating my Christian principles.”

Pence’s statement came a few days after he refused to use the word “deplorable” to characterize David Duke, former Imperial Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, who has endorsed the Trump-Pence ticket.

Yet another example of so called 'lesser evil' candidates working hard to destroy the very foundations that built America.

This can't be a serious story, is it?  The two senses of "vice" come from different Latin roots.

Quote
“The Bible says that the Lord helps those who help themselves,” Pence responded.

“But governor,” the reporter responded, “that phrase is not in the Bible.”

“Never mind,” Pence responded, “it’s in the Republican Bible.”

Did he really say that one, too?

That has to be satire. Be careful taking it as truth.

Read a couple more paragraphs and you'll discover it is satire by someone who seems particularly offended that Pence calls himself a Christian.

Repeated and enlarged. This article is journalistic malpractice on the part of Huffpo.

The Onion or some other satire reporter/site could get away with this—but this was passed off as an actual news story.

In the end, it's just more insults from a caucus that thinks "helping the poor" means "giving them everything they want from the taxpayer coffers."

While I am one of the last people to ever utter "there oughta be a law....",in this case there really SHOULD be a law requiring people who write political satire about candidates to identify the article as satire.

This should be moved to opinion if it is satire, it should come as no surprise that Huffington Post is a long time publisher of anti-Christian hate pieces or at least anti-Evangelical or anti-Fundamentalist as this article is and Clinton has even said such statements that religion must change; I suppose if it is any religion that is in the Judeo-Christian heritage.

Actually, it's yet another example of the contagious knee-jerk disease rampant in the NT community.

This is satire.

This from a member of a government which defends immoral, wicked behavior as rights then demands a share in the profits of such behaviors by way of taxation?

The insanity is apparently contagious.

I'm curious.  Have you missed all the posts explaining this "article" is satire, or are you obstinately ignoring them?

Just my point of view, what is immoral is searching out some fault of the candidate to tar him with, especially when in so many cases, a candidate who was supported has nothing like this kind of record of accomplishment; was never in a leadership position.

What's truly telling here is the presence of such a sad state of affairs in our current nominee's political race that it becomes difficult to figure out whether he and his campaign are victims of satire or of their own idiotic behavior.

Here we are again. The pro-Hillary site posts a article that is not true and the mods post (attempted satire)

:bsflag:   Political satire has been floating in our political bloodstream since the nation was founded.

What's truly telling is how many NTs are so willing and anxious to treat identified satire as reality.

Not a single person or publication, would have given weight to this during either the Reagan or either Bush campaign, or every other campaign in between and after.

This story was picked up by several newspapers as true.

That's because Trump has made it easy to accept absurd behavior and statements from him and his campaign as daily occurrences

Who needs to search?  Both candidates have a plethora of glaring faults worthy of analyses, inspection and commentary.  That is the normal thing that happens in ANY election season, after all.  And it doesn't matter if one of the candidates has never been in a "position of leadership".  To hear Trump bleat it, he has already saved the world a YUGE number of times via his business acumen alone (Trump equates his military schooling with military service).  Trump will tell you how much he's been in a position of leadership throughout his real estate tycoon career.  Just ask him! :silly:
