I was not a Paterno fan well before the pedophile controversy. The guy always seemed like a one dimensional cartoon figure with winning college football games as his sole reason for existence.

College is 4 years of a player's life, of which game day is only a proportion of. There is so much more before, during, and after to earthly existence than just scoring points and beating opposing teams.
