Nothing in Common (with Trump)

Excerpt:

Yep, Hillary Clinton, along with the Paul Ryans, et al, by their words, actions, and deceits, have shown that nobody in their Ruling Class cares about us, and our quaint tenets of the country we love, the deity we worship, the laws we obey, the families we support. It is they with whom we have nothing in common.

But I believe Donald Trump does. I know that he is not perfect, that his brashness may occasionally offend, and that his beliefs may at times diverge from mine. With Trump I may have nothing in common, save for wanting to make America great again and for We, the People, all of us, to make this great America ours again.

Donald Trump is the last person we thought would ever come through for us.

But he did, and he gets my vote.

It might be a good idea to hold off on the accolades until Trump actually does 'come through for us'. He's done nothing so far but alot of shuckin 'n jivin.

Worth repeating. This is different than what the 2008 Obama voters did with BHO. At least BHO had a left leaning  background they could base their hopes on.
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Its demoralizing to watch former allies swoon before a personality.

They haven't learned a damn thing.

Seems to be what it comes down to with a lot of people. Trump is the embodiment of hopes and dreams but nothing of substance.

@skeeter

See  tagline

We have some on "our" side who either are indifferent or outright embrace Trump's new entitlement proposal. I knew Trump would drift back to promoting more government largess at some point. Were I was wrong was my belief that either some of his supporters would change their minds about voting for him or at the very least voice some opposition

The author of the article isn't swooning over Trump and I haven't seen anyone in this forum do so. Repetition cannot make real this fabrication.

Swooning over Trump the new big thing is exactly what many 'conservatives' have done, principles be damned. Now we're all stuck with him.

I posit that those were fake conservatives.  The real ones are the ones that will, once again, sit out this next election....with possible exception to voting for down ballot candidates.

In placing all hopes and dreams upon Orange Glorious, they've completely abandoned any idea of doing anything by constitutional means through congress or the states.

But other than that, there's an eerie similarity between the 2008 Obama true-believers and today's Trumpenfaithful.

People tend towards governments of men, not laws. Then they wonder where it all went wrong.
