To understand #NeverTrump, one has to first look at the ideologies that claim to be a part.

    1. Establishment Republicans who are terrified of a paradigm shift in campaigning and governance.

    2. Conservative purists who believed that Ted Cruz was handpicked by God, and can’t believe God lied to them.

    3. CINOs (Conservatives In Name Only) who are really establishment types too afraid to admit that their inner social justice warriors are afraid of Trump.

    4. Progressive Democrats

#NeverTrump is a Trumpist straw man. There is no #NeverTrump. There are only individuals who've decided what not to do with their vote.

And this writer, whoever he is, can stick his essay up his backside. Idiot.

No, #NeverTrump is a real thing, at least, it was a popular Twitter hashtag.

The article was a bit tongue-in-cheek(bait) but it's true that the already wealthy rent-seekers do seek more rent in their machinations.

Wow, what a flying feces fest. I don't happen to fit into any of the four convenient pigeon hole categories of denigration the writer offers as an attempt to analyze the position of people he obviously is incapable of understanding and whom he has likely never met. I don't happen to fit any combination of them.

What I do care about is a return to our Constitutional Republic, the Separation of Powers, Constitutional Constraints, reverence for the Bill of Rights and Original Intent. I expect to work until I die, given the opportunity, but made that decision when we started raising grandchildren rather than let the government take them. I'd welcome a paradigm shift away from the cronyism that won't come with someone who 'contributed' to the campaigns of some of the most prominent Liberals in the US.

God has never lied to me, and while we picked Ted Cruz, the JV voters didn't.

I'm no 'establishment type', I stopped trying to keep up with the leftward slide of the GOP over this.

"Progressive Democrat" pretty much describes what I won't be so long as I live. They have a habit of voting for people after they are dead, so I can't say what will happen then (Except I pray I'll be in a better place).

The writer completely missed reality in his inflammatory diatribe, and merely proves he doesn't know enough about political philosophy to comment. That's okay with me, We're living in his pointy head (Onion-Domed ceiling and all) rent-free.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I won't deny there are some people out there who are Never Trumpers because of some of the listed reasons. I can understand Republicans who refuse to vote for Trump but don't get the ones that are voting Hillary

However, it's still an attempt by those who unquestionably back Trump  to denigrate those who oppose Trump. It's all they have since they don't have a race or gender card to play.

Many of us remain skeptical of Mr. Trump because we see the continuation of statism/centralization and a deteriorating fiscal situation under him.   We oppose both regardless of the party label behind their name. I'll never work to sabotage his campaign.  But, despite the insistence of his backers, nobody has any obligation to support him.

For now, all I can say that should he win, I hope those of us who are not currently on the Trump Train  are proven wrong. However, everything I'm hearing thus far indicates we won't be

I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.

Notice how many of the Trumpists' insults against Ted Cruz involve religion or his religious belief in one way or another. Also, how often they'll make sneering comments about the religion, morality, or principles of conservatives in general. Gee, it's almost as if Trumpists have some sort of problem with religion, or people who take a principled or moral stand on issues.

I wonder why that is?   :pondering:

True. At least I have marketable skills my parents can be proud of.

I ended up being a carpenter/cabinetmaker. My dad really wanted me to be an engineer but it didn't fit me. Anyways he got to pining for a new shop. He got all the materials and poured a pad. I rolled in with my younger brother (the printer) and got started on a Saturday morning. He asked what he could do to help and I went and got his favorite lawn chair and told him to sit and relax. On Sunday afternoon we had it framed, sheeted and completely wrapped in metal. All we lacked was a garage door. He said he didn't think he would need one that soon. But man he was one happy camper.

I don't make as much money as an engineer but the work is very satisfying. My wife just got new cherry dressers, night stands, bookcase, desk, and headboard.  And a new alder entertainment center. My neighbor is happy cause he just got "new" dressers, night stands, a headboard and entertainment center for free...

5.  Logical Conservatives ...that know that if the nation does not get back to conservative principles of LESS government (not more, bigger government via more, bigger entitlement programs)... and that know that both candidates currently running are liberal (if not leftist) big government proponents....and as such, neither are a viable choice for president.
