Quote
People in this world are suffering, and Miley Cyrus is taking that very seriously by ditching her publicist and skipping future red carpets.

"[A year ago] I had to do the [‘A Very Murray Christmas’] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again,” she tells Elle in its October issue. “Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that's red? Because I'm 'important'? Because I'm 'famous'? That's not how I roll. It's like a skit — it's like Zoolander.’"

See, Miley’s not “doing it” anymore, she says, and by “doing it” she means putting on an act, being disingenuous, having people suck up to her in public because she’s a star. Shh! Nobody tell her that red carpets pretty much exist because of famous people — and because people who make movies and TV shows want to promotethem.

Yeah, Miley. I'm sure you're going to keep that up indefinitely.

Rednecks are big on these kinds of empty gestures. "Girl, I'm not going to Walmarts no more cause they don't pay a living wage" while eating at an Arby's which also doesn't pay a living wage. She was hot while she was doing the bidding of the perverts and now she has nothing left. We've all seen it and we don't want to see it again. She'll be doing porn to support her Meth habit in a few years.

Well I'm done with Miley because she is a stupid, vapid, no talent hack.

More likely Miley is done with red carpets whether she likes it or not because she's yesterday's tabloid news.

Which only makes sense if she is actually going to feed the red carpet to the hungry.

Quite.  The "news" reminded me of my mother urging me to finish a plate of food I didn't like with the admonishment "There are children starving in India."*  I took to answering "So, mail it to them."

*From which the historically astute can figure out my approximate age by noting the date of the last Indian famine.

She’s moving on and moving out!

Sitting on 4.94 acres of land in Hidden Hills, Calif., the lavish home boasts seven bedrooms and six full bathrooms. According to the listing, the property also includes a large 10-stall horse stable, riding arena, vegetable and citrus garden, chicken coop and hen house, and vineyard of over 550 Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grape vines.

The house itself measures at 5,123 square feet and features wide plank wood floors, beamed ceiling, a brick fireplace, a wet bar, a gourmet kitchen furnished with stainless steel appliances and granite counters, a breakfast bar, and a 1000-bottle wine cellar. French doors also open up to a covered veranda that offers panoramic views. The estate’s lush backy

As are certain NFL players. Walk the red carpet, don't walk; sit during the anthem, don't sit - how does any of this empty symbolism help a poor person or recitify a supposed racial injustice?

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
At least I guess she's imposing limits on herself v. trying to take something away from everyone else, which is what most Hollywood stars like to do.

I have a stepdaughter who one time  when very young was eating a holiday dinner with her grumpy grandmother and other family members. The young girl had some things on her plate she didn't like, so she didn't eat them.
Her granny then told her about the starving people in China and how it was a sin to waste food. The young girl then even at that age being very charitable asked her granny why didn't she wrap up the uneaten food  and send it to the starving Chinese.
The grandhag then proceeded to become very cross and shouted at the little girl "don't get smart with me Missy!!!"
The little girl was totally befuddled by her grandhag's outburst because she had only wanted to help the starving Chinese.
True story.
It's always good for laughs when I reenact the role of my stepd's nasty granny at Thanksgiving or other holiday dinners.
