Gary Johnson went on MSNBC's Morning Joe today and admitted in response to a question about Aleppo, Syria, that he had no idea what "Aleppo" was. This was a pretty big mistake for someone who is likely to get millions of votes in the upcoming presidential election, so the New York Times wrote a story about it. Except that its story misidentified Aleppo....

On the original story, I did a quick search and the NYT and other media outlets barely if at all mentioned Aleppo in the past year. You found some international sources and specialty sites, but I will bet you a tenner, when this happened, every single source that reported on it had to google it to see where Aleppo was themselves.
