Trump honors 'true patriot' Phyllis Schlafly at her funeral

Republican nominee Donald Trump on Saturday said the United States had "lost a true patriot" as he spoke at the funeral of longtime conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly.
"We are here today to honor the life and legacy of a truly great American patriot," Trump said, reading prepared remarks from the podium. "A movement has lost its hero. Believe me, Phyllis was there for me when it was not at all fashionable. Trust me."
Schlafly, a high-profile early supporter of the Religious Right movement, in addition to opposing the Equal Rights Amendment in the 1970s, died from cancer on Monday. She was 92.
