Security forces prevented a kidnapping in Michoacán yesterday but it cost the lives of four officials when the helicopter in which they were traveling was shot down.
During an operation that was intended to stop the kidnapping of a farmer in the municipality of La Huacana in the state’s Tierra Caliente region, federal forces located leaders of a criminal organization.
A helicopter was dispatched, along with ground forces, in an effort to capture the gang leaders. National Security Commissioner Renato Sales said this morning that they were successful in detaining the brother of the leader of the Caballeros Templarios, who later died.
