Veteran Baltimore Ravens tight end Benjamin Watson may not know about his ability to play in the 2016-2017 NFL season, but he is sure about his feelings on the national anthem.

The 35 year-old tore his Achilles tendon in a preseason game and had some time to reflect during his recovery after surgery.

He shared his thoughts about the controversy around San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his refusal to stand during the playing of the national anthem.

In a profound post on Facebook, Watson detailed why standing for the “Star Spangled Banner” means so much to him and in the process, showed Kaepernick what it really looks like to affect change.

“I will not have the option to kneel this Sunday while the National Anthem is being played,” the post began. And it is worth reading from beginning to end.
