Carson: Trump should apologize for pushing 'birther' conspiracy
« on: September 07, 2016, 04:06:37 pm »
If Donald Trump apologized for his role in the “birther” conspiracies in 2011, it could help him with African-American voters, according to Trump’s adviser, and former primary opponent, Ben Carson.

"I think that would be a good idea, absolutely," the retired neurosurgeon said in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper Tuesday. "I suggest that on all sides."

In 2011, Trump was one of the leading voices pushing a conspiracy theory that President Obama was not born in Hawaii. In April of that year, the White House released a long-form copy of the president's birth certificate proving he was born in Honolulu.

On Monday, Trump told reporters he didn't talk about the conspiracy any more.

"Let's get all of the, you know, the hate and rancor out of the way so that we can actually discuss the issues," Carson said Tuesday.

Yeah I was going to post a thread on Trump needs to apologize.   But there is a difference between Sorry and forgive me.  A Christian asks for forgiveness when it is related to sin.  He not only needs to ask forgiveness from the African American community.  He needs to ask forgiveness from the Cruz family and any person who he attacked or belittled.  That is what a Christian would do.
AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

Carson  is off the reservation again.  But Ben knows Trump can't kick him to the curb now.... with his Black Outreach going so well it wouldn't look good.

Narcissists seldom apologize.  But should it happen it would be so lacking in sincerity that it would be discounted as the flagrant pandering that it would surely be.

Yep, he does that.  (I know more about the Birther theory than most Birthers do.  Carson knows next to nothing about it.)

Your darn right he should. Ted Cruz is as American as they come. He should also apologize for calling Ben Carson pathological.

I don't want an apologizer in Chief.

Just kidding. If he apologizes at all, it should be in private. Hillary Clinton should apologize as well.

In private?  The apology should be as public as the attack was.  Sin in private, ask for forgiveness in private.  Sin in public, ask for forgiveness in public.

According to the article Carson is referencing Trump's birther accusation in 2011 against Hussein. Carson is thinking in doing so could help Trump with the black vote.  Carson is grasping at straws and trying to stay relevant.
Romans 12:16-21

Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly, do not claim to be wiser than you are.  Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all.  If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all…do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Trump's 0babma birther "attack" was just a tool laying the groundwork for the subsequent nationalist/populist run for president.  He was earning "street cred" in other words.

One day people will wake up to the fact they have been victims of the long con.

Some people will 'never' wake up to that fact, I'm afraid.  Some are now too invested in their false idol, The Don.  And their (ongoing) despicable actions, words and deeds will prevent them from admitting to any wrongdoing on their part....in defense of Trump.  Sad, that.

Trump's chicanery has fooled white/conservative Republicans into supporting him.

He's hoping to also fool the blacks.

That sounds like pride.   Carson knowing next to nothing about Birther theory elevates him in the eyes of 99% of America.

An astute observation.  He needs to just shut up about it.  If he needs to ask forgiveness, let him ask it of Cruz, who was genuinely harmed by the accusation, not Hussein who has been profiting handsomely from the accusation.

Good point!

I recently met a Brit who had lived in Kenya for thirty years.  He told me that today's Kenyans almost unanimously regard Americans as completely stupid.

Go figure.

Its not even a smart suggestion. Apologizing to Cruz, besides being morally imperative, would have a political benefit.

If nothing else, it would have the benefit of shutting down the Trump supporters who are actually driving voters away by continuing to snipe at Cruz.  I'm seeing people who were planning to reluctantly vote for Trump changing their minds because of the Cruz-bashing not by Trump, but by his supporters.

I told one the other day, "The press likes to say Trump is is own worst enemy, but I think that's untrue.  YOU are."

Wow.  I had forgotten that the birtherism was also linked to Cruz...I wonder if Trump is dumb enough to pull on that string again... :pondering:

Just kidding  of course he is.  I better go check his twitter feed.

That's right.  And he is upset Cruz didn't endorse him.  He thinks he's a god and can do as he likes.  Including working to destroy entire families.
