Trump changed immigration policy speech after Mexican president's tweet
Published September 02, 2016 The Wall Street Journal

As Donald Trump arrived in Phoenix late Wednesday, fresh from a visit to Mexico City’s presidential palace, he had in his hands a big immigration speech that omitted the usual line that Mexico would have to pay for his proposed wall along the U.S. southern border.

Just after landing, though, Mr. Trump discovered that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto had tweeted that he had told the Republican presidential nominee during their private meeting earlier that day that his country would refuse to pay for the wall.

Mr. Trump was peeved that Mr. Peña Nieto had gone public with the fact that the Mexican president had broken what Mr. Trump considered a deal to keep the question of paying for the wall off the table at their initial meeting.

Great idea.  War on the border.   Remember when I said that I couldn't mention what the Hispanics at work were saying about Trump?  Hint it has to do with what they think Cartels are going to do.

Trump simply cannot let any perceived slight go.  Nieto Pena had to save a little face so he went public after Trump flat-out lied about paying for the wall not being discussed.  He was attempting to one-up Pena on Pena's turf.

He should have known better. Some negotiator.

This has nothing to do with a "perceived slight".  The media was running with this story prior to Trump's speech.  All he did was clarify and confirm his position.

Huh?  Trump tried to diss Pena while standing next to the man.  If Trump had resisted his impulse to take questions, this would never have come up.  And Trump realized, after he took the question, that he had stepped in it.  So he didn't take another.

Rule one of negotiation:  Never one-up your negotiating partner.

It does demand an argument if hate is involved. Not slandering sinkspur, because as everyone here knows, fourteen months sinky screamed it incessantly: I hate Donald Trump.

It's no secret I'm an early supporter of Donald Trump. But, I haven't posted OP's these days.

I wasn't referring to your in-thread opinions, sink. You know what they say about opinions. What I was talking about was your starting threads, those news articles you post, OP's. Those articles are uniformly negative, because you hate Trump. Believe it or not there is good news to report about Donald Trump.
