Clinton’s advisers tell her to prep for a landslide

Displaying unchecked confidence, the Democrat’s paid consultants see plenty of paths to the White House.

Advisers to Hillary Clinton’s campaign have identified so many paths to an Election Day victory they are now focusing not only on the one or two battlegrounds that would ensure a win but on opening up the possibility of an Electoral College landslide.

“Hillary Clinton has many paths to 270 electoral votes, more than any candidate in a generation,” said Jeff Berman, a paid consultant to her campaign.

Revealing a level of confidence Clinton’s inner circle has been eager to squash for weeks, outside advisers have now identified victories in Pennsylvania and New Hampshire as the path of least resistance, delivering for the Democratic nominee more than the 270 electoral votes needed to take the White House. And they are projecting increased confidence about her chances in Republican-leaning North Carolina, a state that could prove as critical as Ohio or Pennsylvania.

Not sure about a landslide, unless we're talking about the margin of victory for Obama over McCain in 2008.

To be sure, Hillary will win, but I think it'll be a bit closer than her overconfident underlings want her to believe.

One thing to watch out for is that October Surprise.

Wikileaks Russia has material on her, and Russia wants Trump.

A Clinton landslide does seem likely from an electoral vote perspective, even if not so much in the popular vote.

However, with the election currently coming down to a race between two patently terrible candidates, I'd say that there is still a lot of room for movement as bad stories about one or the other crop up.

I spent about 15 minutes yesterday at RCP's "build the electoral map" app, and couldn't come up with a plausible Trump scenario.

Well, weren't Kerry's advisors calling him President on the day of the election, positive he was going to win.  How'd that work out for him.

I seem to remember all of the polls and media calling it for Kerry, as well.  And some folks turned around and went home hearing that.  Folks that would have voted for Bush.  The era of the hanging/dangling chad.  Brings back memories.  Are we facing yet another electoral fiasco and disaster?  Probably.

Incredibly back in 2004 they were leaking that Kerry won the election based on exit polling.  Still can remember the Drudge headline saying this.  Man was I depressed for about 6 hours.

I spent about 15 minutes yesterday at RCP's "build the electoral map" app, and couldn't come up with a plausible Trump scenario.

The day following Romney's loss to Obama, I penned a post-mortem of the election that I sent to a couple people in which I said among other things, that the so called political right would learn nothing from the experience and nominate an even more leftist candidate in 2016. I wish I still had it.

Likewise, the so called political right will learn nothing from the coming Clinton victory and move even further to the left. Since most of the 'political right' has proven over the past few elections, through their votes and choices of candidates they are leftist themselves, this is not a hard call to make.

A couple hours ago, I would've agreed, but this afternoon there seems to be some strong movement toward Trump in Iowa and Virginia.  He's within 2.7 in Florida, and is tied in the last polling in Ohio.  He's even drawn close enough in PA to push it back to RCP's "tossup" column.  That trip to Mexico and the subsequent immigration speech have been paying dividends, at least in the short term.

The Clinton Crime Family did not rig the primaries just so they could leave the general election to chance.   They are way too smart for that.

Trump was chosen as they knew his inflammatory rhetoric would appeal to the gullible, and appeal it did.

She will win, and when she does credit those who voted for lifelong liberal and Clinton accomplice, Donald Trump.

Good show.

Trump’s poll numbers don’t match Clinton’s electoral map realities:

...Put the reliably red states in Trump’s column and reliably blue in Clinton’s. She starts off with 242 electoral votes to 180 for Trump. That leaves 10 potential battleground states — Florida, North Carolina, Virginia, New Hampshire, Ohio, Iowa, Indiana, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico — with a total of 116 electoral votes.

Trump practically has to sweep those states to win. But Clinton could lose every one of those states except Florida and still win the presidency. Or she could merely win Virginia (where she is heavily favored) and Ohio (where she narrowly leads). In other words, she has multiple paths, Trump doesn’t.

Don't count on it.  Nothing has squashed her thus far.   Perhaps she is so evil that she is unsquashable.
