Via Business Insider, “fires back” is overstating it since Beck goes out of his way here not to be antagonistic to Hannity — or rather, not overtly antagonistic. There’s a lot of shade smuggled into this polite disagreement:

Quote
BECK: I won’t blame Hannity “for helping nominate a GOP candidate that was a Democrat” https://t.co/eYo6scSlZo pic.twitter.com/ULeE12yoMz

— Oliver Darcy (@oliverdarcy) August 31, 2016

This is his response to Hannity’s much buzzed-about indictment of #NeverTrumpers, including and especially Beck, yesterday afternoon. Beck’s counterpoint is straightforward: When a candidate fails to attract the number of votes he needs to win, typically it’s the candidate himself who’s blamed, not his critics. There were plenty of alt-righters, I’m sure, who had no patience for the “globalist” Mitt Romney and refused to lend him their vote in 2012. Never once, as far as I know, has Hannity attacked them for having failed to be ‘team players” or whatever for the right-wing cause. The more Trump apologists in the media deviate from the usual “blame the candidate” norm this year, the more insistent the question becomes as to why.

Why does Trump get a pass on basic stuff, like not having an effective ground game, that a more traditional Republican nominee like Romney would have been crucified (actually, was crucified) for failing at? Is Hannity grading him on a ridiculously steep curve because he’s a newbie politician, like the people who pronounced Trump’s ho-hum presser in Mexico City today a momentous win just because he failed to say anything boorish or stupid? Or is Hannity protecting himself knowing that the more blame Trump personally bears for blowing the election — if he blows it — the more blame his enablers, like Hannity, will bear by association? Little of both, I think.

If you want to see overt antagonism to Hannity by a member of the Glenn Beck team, read this Facebook stemwinder by co-host Pat Gray after you listen to the clip. Hoo boy. By the way, Beck wasn’t the only A-list right-wing talk-radio host to push back in defense of #NeverTrumpers. Mark Levin, a longtime friend of Hannity’s, also slammed the blame-shifting by certain unnamed people. Levin made an interesting point too in passing, and one you don’t often hear from conservative talkers: Conservative media simply isn’t big enough to tilt a presidential race by throwing its full weight behind the Republican nominee.

It’s stupid to blame Beck and National Review for Trump’s difficulty in overtaking Clinton because Beck and National Review and Rush and Levin and so forth just don’t have the media muscle to move swing voters.

He’s entirely right about that, but the truth of it is sometimes glossed over given the belief among movement conservatives that America is fundamentally a conservative country. Maybe that belief has faded now, though. It’s hard to cling to it when we’re staring at a Trump/Clinton election.

The Pat Gray post discussed in the article:

Open Letter To Sean Hannity...Grow Up.

...and just admit it. You've been in the bag for Donald J. Trump SINCE DAY ONE. And EVERYONE knows it. You've bent over BACKWARDS for the man every step of the way. And EVERYONE knows it. You attacked Ted Cruz regularly while defending Trump at every turn with religious fervor...and EVERYONE knows it.

You're really going to claim that we're "sore losers" who can't let the fact that Ted Cruz lost, go? Apparently Sean, you can't understand opposition to someone...based on PRINCIPLES.

You've excused everything Trump has said and done in the past...and the present. You certainly didn't do that for Barack Obama...and their policies were and in fact, still are, quite similar. You've excused the fact that he was a Hillary Clinton donor. Not to mention a Clinton Foundation donor. Now Trump's railing against both.

You've excused his HEALTH CARE position. He said last SEPTEMBER that he'd have the Federal GOVERNMENT pay for health care...even if it cost him votes! Uh, that system is SINGLE PAYER Health Care, if I'm not mistaken...which is WORSE than Obamacare. I thought you were against Obamacare, Sean? Weird.

A couple elections ago, while you were doing the "stop the Hillary train" countdown, or whatever it was...your buddy Donald was FUNDING her. Weird. Oh, AND he was telling Americans she was doing a fantastic job and she'd make a great President. Weird.

While YOU, like us, were railing against Planned Parenthood, Donald was telling Americans that PP should remain FEDERALLY FUNDED! Weird.

While you, like us, were railing against George Soros, he was telling a crowd to "forget about Soros, leave him alone, he's got enough problems." Weird.

While you've been insisting that Trump isn't flip-flopping on issues, he's flip-flopped on so many issues that HE doesn't even know where he stands on them. His latest immigration softening is a perfect example of that. The man who's been proclaiming that "they have to go!"...is now talking about the "humane" path to citizenship for them instead. And, you're OK with that? Weird.

Seriously, Sean, you've been exposed here. You can continue to live in your, "I've been fair and impartial this whole time, I don't know what you're talking about...I just offered everyone a chance to come on the air", world if you want...but EVERYONE knows better.

You can blame Glenn and everyone else who has stuck to their constitutional principles for the pending Hillary election victory if that makes you feel better, but EVERYONE knows better.

We TOLD you the guy couldn't win. We begged and pleaded for a better candidate with conservative, constitutional principles...there were SEVEN of them who would've been pretty great choices...and SIXTEEN that were better than Trump...but YOU and so many others, for whatever reason, had to have Trump...weird.

Join us in reality, my friend. YOU own her. And EVERYONE knows it.

That article is 100% right on.  Sean has been in the bag for the Great Orange tRumpkin Pumpkin from the beginning.  I'm so tired of his phony "fair" and his phony conservatism.  Sean isn't anything but a miserable punk with zero values.

This is probably why Hanitty decided to end this BS yesterday by claiming he isn't going to discuss it anymore. He saw that if he was going to keep pimping Trump and slamming those against Trump he would be called out for the fake, phony, fraud he really is.

I'm missing this guy who made the phrase a staple in talk radio....

@TomSea

Really?  Beck is thinking about voting for Hillary?  That's news to me.  I haven't heard him indicate that.

And please don't run from me like you did the other day when I asked you about Trump's "Christianity."  Just tell me when you heard him say it.

(BTW, Trump can be seen on video saying he wouldn't do anything to stop partial-birth abortion.  If you need clarification, that's the practice of driving scissors into the skulls of infants.  Personally I wouldn't want to have a vote for someone like that on my soul).

Sean Hannity went down a list of everything, should Hillary get elected, that he will hold those who don't vote Trump responsible for.

What will he do if Trump does get elected and those things he listed happen anyways or worsen? Who gets blamed then? If history is any guide, he'll blame the Democrats

Yes, but not bright enough to discern that it's too friggin late.  Can't stuff the "stupid" genie back in the bottle now.
