The Trump Effect: Before Primaries GOP Led on Generic Ballot Question, They Now Trail by 8 Points

Quote
Before the GOP primaries started, 46% of voters said they were inclined to support the Republican presidential candidate, regardless of who it might actually be. Only 39% said they would support the Democratic nominee.

After the primaries, the GOP now trails 36% to 44%. That's ten percentage points less for the Republican Party, and a 5 percentage point increase for the Democrats

This is a bigger deal than it sounds like.
