Sometimes the race hustle can be very lucrative, just ask Al Sharpton, and other times…not so much. A black guy in Indiana was offered a six-figure settlement in a police brutality lawsuit, but he had his eyes on a much bigger prize so he took it court. The verdict just came down and the good news is the black man won. The bad news is, he was awarded just one dollar in damages. D’oh!
The Indy Star reports that in July 2012 a drunken Dan Franklin beat the shit out of his girlfriend in South Bend, IN. She called the police to report the domestic violence assault. She gave the name of her boyfriend as well as a description: a tall slender black man with dreadlocks. She also said Dan may be headed to his parents’ house.
The police went to Dan’s parents’ house and were met at the door by his mom. She told police that her son was in his bedroom. The cops went to the bedroom and found a tall slender black man with dreadlocks sleeping on the bed. When they tried to arrest this black man, he fought with officers, grabbing for their guns. The police used a Tazer on this combative man and eventually put him in cuffs.
