Political suicide is a terrible thing to witness. But that's what Texas Senator Ted Cruz might have done with his disastrous speech at the GOP convention last month:

    A new poll suggests there is at least one fellow Republican who could unseat U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz in 2018: Rick Perry.

    The former Texas governor would beat Cruz by 9 percentage points, according to the forthcoming survey from the Democratic-leaning firm Public Policy Polling. Set to be released later today, the poll found Perry would get 46 percent of the vote and Cruz 37 percent, with 18 percent saying they are not sure whom they would support.

    Perry is the only challenger that PPP tested who would defeat Cruz. The poll indicates he would trounce two other Republicans talked about as potential opponents, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick by 22 points and U.S. Rep. Michael McCaul by 32 points. He would also beat two Democrats, U.S. Housing Secretary Julián Castro and former gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis, both by 12 points.

Gonna be kinda hard to keep the hate going all the way to 2018 so maybe they could work on destroying Mike lee, the only man arguably more solidly constitutional conservative than Ted Cruz.

We staunch conservatives use different terms: soaring, epic, principled, a ray of hope in dark times... that kind of stuff.

Cruz-Bot smearing hate bullies because of their abrasive contributions have already been put on ignore; I'm sorry if the rules of this forum are all articles must contain hatred towards the Republican nominee.

But maybe we can pull out Mark Levin's report card and say a Senator with little actual effect on the rule of this country are the Messiahs of Conservatism.

If I didn't know any better, I would think you're a Cruz concern troll. If you think Perry would be Cruz in the 2018 primary, I would suggest you check your premises.

It really depends on what scenario happens -- Trump will undoubtedly spend millions to ensure that he loses and undoubtedly he will continue with the lies and the smears.  IF/when amnesty is granted to millions of illegals the DEM electorate will increase dramatically.

Trump smears won't matter much as people are already seeing him for the clown that he is.  The amnesty scenario on the other hand is going to have a huge impact not only on Cruz but every GOP candidate running; IMHO I think we're going to see a DEM controlled Senate this election and a DEM controlled House in 2018.  So ... definitely not going to bet you the $100 bucks.

 :shrug:  I thought I answered the question. Leaving Trump out.  Hillary will take the White House. Millions of illegals will get the right to vote and they will vote DEMS eliminating GOP re-elections gaining more Senate seats and losing the House.  So, as much as it pains me I think you are right on this one (ouch that hurt...lol).  I don't see Cruz winning re-election.
