Trump Supporters Were Warned He’s A Fraud; They Did Not Listen And Now The Chickens Are Roosting

Posted at 9:00 am on August 25, 2016 by Jay Caruso

There are times when a person will say, "I hate to say 'I told you so', but....." and then go on to say it. In this case, I am not hating it. In fact, I am reveling in it. Last night, Donald Trump, in a town hall event with one of his biggest sycophants, Sean Hannity, did a complete 180 regarding his views on immigration. His position diverged so much from what it was that he now has the same view on immigration as the famous RINO cuck loser, Jeb Bush.

Guess what? "I told you so."

Last December, I wrote about five reasons I would not support Donald Trump if he became the GOP nominee. The second point on the list was this:

2. He's lying to everybody on immigration. He's not going to build his "big beautiful wall" and he's not going to get Mexico pay for it. He's not going to deport 11-12 million illegal immigrants.

Somebody told me it was "prescient." Not really. It was as easy to "predict" as saying the sun will rise in the east. It wasn't just me, of course. Several RedState writers including Aaron Gardner (who gave us #NeverTrump) and Ben Howe have been saying it as well. GOP operatives Rick Wilson and Liz Mair are on the list of those who warned people about Trump, as did Tom Nichols from The Federalist. National Review has been called a "liberal rag" as the bulk of their editorial staff, including Charles Cooke and Jonah Goldberg, have been warning people about the orange spray tan wonder-boy.

The warnings went unheeded. We sat there as a bunch self-righteous, holier-than-thou writers and bloggers from various conservative publications squawked and crowed about Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio, Carly Fiorina and John Kasich all being unacceptable candidates due to their support for "amnesty." Ted Cruz was the only acceptable alternative to some of them, but even he was targeted by a mass of Trump supporters as an "establishment insider politician" who is "owned" by Washington DC and Goldman Sachs.

Trump supporters beat their chests over his record vote totals in the primaries while yelping inanities such as, "If Rubio can't beat Trump in Florida, how can he beat Hillary?" This kind of obtuseness ignores the obvious point that primary elections and general elections are two completely different animals. Now that Trump is losing to Hillary nationally by an average of 5 points and has managed to turn safe GOP states such as Utah, Georgia, Missouri and Arizona into toss-ups, those same supporters are resorting to bragging about his social media following and crowd size as an indicator the polls are all wrong. Others are going the full on Infowars conspiracy theory route, claiming the polls are "rigged" in order to depress the supposed massive contingent of "silent majority" Trump supporters.

Are you done laughing yet?

It is rather funny, but at the same time, it is also extremely frustrating. The Democrats nominated one of the weakest candidates since Walter Mondale or Michael Dukakis. This is an election the GOP had in the bag. But 40% of primary voters decided they wanted to have a temper tantrum because they were mad at Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell. So instead of nominating a principled conservative who fit the Reagan 80/20 model, and who could beat Hillary Clinton, they chose Hillary Clinton donor Donald Trump and why? Because he "fights," yells at the media and isn't "politically correct."

Top notch choice, people.

Thanks to your temper tantrum, Hillary Clinton, despite all of her flaws -- her corruption, her newfound leftism and her complete robotic demeanor --  will likely be elected President. For the first time since the era of Franklin D. Roosevelt and Harry Truman, Democrats will win their third national election in a row. Not only that, Trump has put in serious jeopardy the GOP majority in the Senate. Just think of what 2017 and 2018 will be like with Hillary Clinton working with Senate Majority Leader, Chuck Schumer.

And every single one of you who voted for Donald Trump in the primaries are to blame. You were warned. You chose to ignore those warnings. Enjoy your "Make America Great Again" trucker hats.

I hope a Hillary Clinton presidency was worth it.

Open memo to all, and hopefully a mod will respond:

Given the heat being generated today regarding personal attacks, is my analogy considered as a mere "analogy", or is it a personal attack directed at Trump supporters? Over at TOS, Trump supporters (basically anyone left there that hasn't been zotted) continue to bring up there anger at Cruz supporters who referred to them as "low information voters".

Perhaps they're right, so let's rephrase it: "Voters with Cognitive Dissonance."  Please be advised that Hillary will never get my vote. All I've asked since Trump won the nomination is that he exorcise the petulant boy trapped inside of him. Until then, no dice.

Once again ... silence from the Trumpeteers.

You're supporting Trump...who is clearly turning out to be a NY Liberal...you have no room anymore to say not voting for Trump is a vote for Hillary.

They are truly now two sides of the same coin.  Your supporting someone who is just as big of a liberal as the Democrat nominee.

More signs of trouble at Trump Republic over this issue?

Trump's plan for those still here is almost identical with that of Jeb. We all hated Jeb’s guts for his plan. The difference is that Trump knows that his core will follow him if he shoots someone in public in downtown NY. Someone will cry foul and say he was kidding but that is exactly Trumps words, and humor has truth. Right now I have been reading what some have said, desperately trying to justify it by saying it is faking the dems or something silly. It may get me kicked off here but here is the unvarnished truth.

Donald Trump is like many of our candidates. He has secured his base and is not changing his position of a controversial subject in order to win those on the fringes (i.e. independents and more moderate Dems.) He knows that those like us are going to vote for him because we have no choice.

This is what we have gotten, a candidate with no conservative principles who will say anything to get elected. With that said I will never vote for Hillary but it seems like there is less and less reasons to vote for Trump. What will everyone say if he “moderates” his view on the wall?

I love you all and have enjoyed posting and exchanges with you. I assume that this note will get me banned from here, since we have been told that NO NEGATIVE comments about Trump will be tolerated. Feel free to try to convince me that this is somehow different from what Jeb would do. One final question. If Trump had come out with these ideas 6 months ago, would you have been so gung ho for him?

This poster's days are numbered there unless he agrees to re education.  Reading some of the justifications for Trump's switch on illegals is comical. Some believe this is really part of a grand super secret stategery. Some are saying he hasn't changed. Other's are changing their positions on illegal immigration to accommodate Trump's switch

A certain amount of righteous indignation is appropriate.

They were willingly complicit in the destruction of the country we love.  It's not something we can rightfully say doesn't matter.

Trump says nothing about citizenship.

There is no meat on the bones to say he is now adopting a gang of eight or Jeb Bush position.

Did not Trump also say to "enforce the laws on the books"?

Rush Limbaugh has been saying that for years; I guess you will be calling Rush Limbaugh a New York Liberal now.

The only thing called into question are the mass deportations; the wall will be built per Trump and

As Rush Limbaugh has said for years, "we don't need new laws and reform, we need to enforce the ones that are on the books".

The Gang of Eight was not about citizenship either.

If Trump is making this concession, what makes you think, if he's still down in the polls a month from now, he won't go whole hog and "eventual path to citizenship" is put on the table as well?

Trump has no core principles.  The wall, his advocates have admitted, will be mostly technology, not an actual physical "wall."

Tom, you've been conned.  And it's going to become even more apparent over the next 60 days.

Trump is talking about legalizing some illegals. That is a far cry from deportations.

During the primaries some of us recognized Trump's position as 'Touchback Amnesty'. He's no longer talking about the 'touchback' part anymore. So logic implies he's now talking about plain old 'amnesty'.

Well for starters...

If elected president, he plans to deport all 11 million undocumented immigrants – including their U.S. citizen children. What’s more, Trump claims he’ll do it all within 18 months to two years. It is, according to Trump, just a question of “good management.”

Yes, which directly contradicts his other statements. Those entering illegally and being deported have bans on re-entry, with permabans on those leaving and coming back again. So much for his beautiful big door in the wall!

Edit: I admit this might be wrong. They might be regulations or policies, not laws. IANAL.

You Trump backers need to get on one page when it comes to defending Trump. One group of supporters agree with his softening stance. Another group says it's consistent with his past statements(it's not). Another group are upset with this. Some are claiming this is part of a strategy to fool the Democrats.....

Ideally, you would need to get together with all the backers of Trump and stick to one script. Even if it sounds ridiculous, at least there would be a consistency in all their defense of him.
