Many flood-stricken residents in Louisiana have tried to return home, braving the alligator-infested waters to start rebuilding their lives.
The 'unprecedented' flooding has devastated 40,000 homes across the state, leaving more than 3,000 living out of shelters as the death toll has risen to 13.
Obama, who resisted the pressure to cut his vacation Martha's Vineyard short, is scheduled to visit the disaster zone on Tuesday after Donald Trump showed up in Baton Rouge on Friday with running mate Mike Pence.
