So in other words, in the time of slavery it required a change in culture before anything could be done about it. Think about that for a moment. Because that's what you are saying.

Slavery only came to and end when one side said no more regardless how the other side felt about it or the consequences that followed.

Don't compare "slavery" with abortion.   Homey don't play that.

What I am saying is that Trump is BOTH a liberal AND a sociopath.

And what I'm suggesting is that Trump is "liberal" when and if it suits his needs.  Living in NYC, "being liberal" can grease a lot of skids.

But I think if he lived somewhere else he'd be "conservative," again as a matter of convenience.  Case in point is the way he demagogues the immigration issue.

I think "sociopath" and narcissist (apparently not quite the same thing) are sufficient to describe Trump.

I honestly doubt that he has any firmly held political beliefs.

Guess what, son: you don't get to define the terms of that particular argument, the basics of which are essentially the same for slaves or fetuses.

There's so much wrong with this post that I'll let you stew in it rather than try to defend myself against its idiocy.

You've always had a hidden disdain for social conservatism, but as with many others, your Trump love has ripped the mask off.

It's valuable to see what's been underneath the pretense of decency for all these years.

It has certainly been enlightening, as well as entertaining for all of us here in TBR to see just what a piece of work into which you've evolved.

I have disdain for all "one-issue" voters, hiding behind so-called 'principles'.

Anybody that would take a chance on Hillary getting elected by declining to vote for the GOP Nominee is a Class A putz as far as I'm concerned.

@Right_in_Virginia

If we're so small in number, why do you folks keep trying to convince us to support Trump?

Well, speaking for myself dear @CatherineofAragon I am not trying to convince you of anything---merely pointing out where the facts do not support assertions.

You do whatever you choose to do.  :shrug:

A little bird was looking over my shoulder and saw this headline and made a very good point I have to share. (and this is from a pretty apolitical person who isn't engaged in this race too much).

Which side is acting morally superior?

Only one side is demanding the other side give up or set aside their personal values.
Only one side is attempting to manipulate the other side through guilt, name calling, and personal attacks. (Traitor, Hillary Supporter, you are responsible if Hillary wins).
Only one side is attempting to define the rules of the game based on their own desired outcome.
Only one side is trying to control the individual choices others make.

Cognitive dissonance prevails.  As it does with strong borders, a robust economy, a strong military, intelligent screening of "refugees" and renewed respect around the world.

Yeah.  There really is no comparison.

I'll see your 600K and raise you 40 million.

A border with a big wall and a big beautiful door. An economy that will continue to wilt as there is less and less the common man can do to get their hands on the resources people like Trump have. A military we can't afford to maintain. And a renewed respect because like Obama, Trump will continue his progression toward socialist policies like mandatory, government-subsidized health insurance just like the rest of the world has.

What's interesting to me is that, liberal or not, these people think that it's an effective tool in either persuading or bullying someone into compliance with their will.

I especially find the term "self-righteous" revealing, since the ones they're trying to insult with the term are actually the people who believe in their own sinfulness, and that the only righteousness is in God, through Jesus Christ, and that they, themselves, believe their own opinion is superior to a morality that goes back to the beginning of time.

It's another case of black being white and right being wrong.

If we didn't believe in an absolute moral code, not of our own design, we would be more "malleable" and willing to allow Trump's lack of morality and decency to not be a factor for us.

It is the Trump crowd who believes in their own righteousness, and not those of us who find his lack of morality and ethics deplorable.

@CatherineofAragon

Oh, I'll readily admit that I'm no more "righteous" than anyone, nor would I claim to be.  But when it comes to Trump, my conscience doesn't just whisper---it screams.   I won't disregard it.

Therein lies the problem for some, I believe.  They've muzzled their own consciences, and they're angry that others won't follow suit.

1. Slavery was not eradicated in the United States! It still exists today in many forms the largest of which being a federal government that can take any amount of the fruits of your labor at a whim.  THAT is the very definition of slavery!

2. You can't do anything you refuse to try to do!

Don't sweat it @CatherineofAragon

Just today, Donald Trump picked up over FIFTY black American voters.

....so ALL of you here who won't vote for the GOP Nominee can just sit on your behinds come Election Day.   Won't matter a lick.       :laugh:

that is....unless you're one the ones in here that publicly stated she's planning on voting for Hillary Clinton.   @Suppressed

Putz here.   See you're trying another way to win voters over to Trump that isn't working.

We know Trump, DC.  He's spent a year revealing himself to us.  Nothing he does or says now will change anything.

He's still unfit for the presidency.

Can't eradicate it  by punishing the women who have them either, which is what Trump thought a pro-lifer should advocate.  He knows nothing about being pro-life.

Except today you've tried to sell Trump's visit to Louisiana; you asked a member what she needed to hear in order to vote for Trump;

I wasn't selling, @CatherineofAragon, merely correcting---any way I can.  I'll use video, articles, graphics---whatever I have at my disposal to correct the torrent of falsehoods so often flooding this forum.  I do hope you can handle that.

And I asked the question you cited above only in response to a poster saying Trump supporters never present any reason to vote for Trump.  Specifically raise the issue, Catherine, and I will respond.

Otherwise, please know you have my blessings to stew in your own bitterness until the cows come home.  I'll only help you out of the stew if you ask for it.

And since we know that won't happen, any further discussion on this between the two of us is foolish and moot.

So that's all.
