It was a joke. Not funny, but an attempt. I sincerely hope that someone, other than the unsound "spiritual leaders" from whom he currently seeks advice, will present the true gospel to this man and that he will understand his need for repentance and regeneration. I have a suspicion that Paula White and Jerry Falwell Jr aren't doing that.

I am very opposed to Mormon theology, but say what you want to about them as a people, they are hard-core rock-ribbed Conservative folks... And they mind the Judeo-Christian ethic a whole lot more than many Christians do.

That I admire, and am grateful for.

Heh, yeah, that's about the only way. Though, unfortunately, all her family and friends (Mormon) in Minnesota appear to agree with her.  I get the sense that their preference for Bernie comes from a similar place as say, a liberal Catholic's place: that is, an emotive, rather than a rational, one.

I'm Jewish. Most of my family are democrats, but I'm amazed that I'm not the only republican- There are several in my generation. In fact one of my second cousins is Orthodox, and they are republicans that voted for Cruz in the NYC primary.

As bunny stated, I think it has a lot to do with where. Most of the Jewish population of America is primarily urban and most urban people lean liberal.The same can be said about just about any group. I've got lots of conservative leaning union neighbors but we're rural. The closer you get to any population center, the more liberal people tend to be.

Or it could be, in my case at least, when we were in college we analyzed what direction  and where the country should be going. It was during the Reagan era and I think we just felt that the Republican Party was more attune with what we wanted for our lives than the Democratic Party offered.

I just wish I knew more in real life. That is why I'm happy to meet people here. :) I'll never meet you all but I know you exist. I'm not totally alone.
