Hackett Police Chief and deputy reportedly shot, conditions unknown.

HACKETT, Arkansas (40/29 NEWS/AP) — Two law enforcement officers have been shot in Sebastian County, Arkansas according to Philip Pevehouse with the sheriff’s department. The shooter is not in custody.

An officer on scene told 40/29 News in Fayetteville/Fort Smith that the Hackett Police Chief and a county deputy were shot. The shootings happened near Hackett, a town about 170 miles west of Little Rock.

The shooting happened at the intersection of Hwy 253 and Boone, just outside of Hackett. A witness says it happened near Mockingbird Lane.

Officers are at the property of the suspected shooter, but the shooter is not in custody, Pevehouse said.
