Here’s What Happens if No Candidate Earns the 270 Electoral Votes Needed to Become President

The big reset button. Bush v Gore, for example, was 266 to 271, so it doesn't take much to keep either major party candidate from reaching the 270 line.

November 8, 2016 is election day in America. While all the votes should be tabulated before midnight on that Tuesday, there is a possibility — albeit a remote one — we won’t know who the next president is until sometime in January 2017.

The lack of a clear winner only happens if no candidate wins enough states to collect 270 or more electoral votes.

According to the 12th Amendment of the Constitution, if no candidate earns at least 270 electoral votes, the House of Representatives will assemble and select a president-elect from the top three electoral vote getters....

This is pretty much a moot issue, as Hillary has a baseline of 350+ EVs in her hip pocket.

On the face, you are right, state by state, EV by EV, it looks like it is going to be pretty lopsided, however, this does play to a good theoretical 'what if' game. There also is a lot of time between now and then. If Hillary continues to have medical issues, especially on camera, Wikileaks keeps dripping their releases, and Jill Stein or Gary Johnson (who has been playing more to disgruntled Bernie supporters than he has the Right) gets airtime, it could result in some very surprising things come November.

The only way would be if a popular candidate jumped in and focused on a few key states.

But why would someone do that.  And who would it be?

Well.. it could.

In which case I would go with Castle as the third choice. Hard to say if the House would vote for Hillary or trump...... I seriously they would do Castle as the Uni-party would want one of their own.
