Ahmed Mohamed, also known as clock boy, is the teenager who brought a disassembled clock to his Texas high school in a pencil case last year. He was questioned and then arrested for bringing a hoax bomb to school. His family moved to Qatar last year but returned in June and hired an attorney. Now the family is suing the school district over Ahmed’s treatment. From the Washington Post:

Quote
Citing a pattern of disproportionate disciplinary actions for black students in the Irving Independent School District (ISD) and a history of anti-Muslim sentiment in Irving, the lawsuit alleges that Ahmed was discriminated against based on his race and religion. It also claims his Fourth Amendment rights were violated when he was interrogated by police and principal Daniel Cummings for over an hour without the presence of his parents before he was arrested.

No specific dollar amount is included in the lawsuit, but the Post notes the family previously threatened to sue the school for $15 million. The AP has a bit more on the lawsuit:

Quote
The lawsuit names Irving Independent School District, the city of Irving and the school’s principal. District spokeswoman Lesley Weaver said in a statement Monday that attorneys for the district will review the suit and determine a course of action.

“Irving ISD continues to deny violating the student’s rights and will respond to claims in accordance with court rules,” she said, adding that school officials for now will have no further comment.

Both the Associated Press and the Washington Post describe what Ahmed brought to school as a “homemade clock.” In fact, it was not a homemade anything. It was an inexpensive, store-bought clock radio which he had removed from its plastic case and placed inside a pencil case. All of this was hashed over a year ago when this story was dominating the news. The clock Ahmed brought to school included printed circuit boards and custom ribbon cables. It had AC power (like a store bought clock) and a 9V battery back up. It’s telling that even a year later the media can’t get this story right.

For quite some time, we have heard the mantra, "See something, say something."  The school officials saw something and said something.  They were wrong - is that a crime?  This kid brought a contraption to school that resembled the common view of an improvised bomb more than it resembled a clock.  (It was, in fact, a commercially-built clock taken out of its original case and placed into a suspicious-looking pencil case.  It was NOT an invention of the student.)

This boy's family is a family of creeps, trying to get money for nothing.  Scum.

Ahmed and his family are trolling this nation, and hard. They know where the money is at. Feelings are worth more than gold in this country, if you are special minority victim status.

School officials were absolutely not 'wrong'.  They reported something suspicious.

Saying it the way you do sets them up to already have a settled act of guilt, and all that is left is to decide the punishment.

I believe what you meant to say is "They were wrong in believing that what he brought to school was a bomb".
No punishment, in my opinion, is too great, for the man who can build his greatness upon his country's ruin~  George Washington

Correct.  I was not suggesting they were wrong for being suspicious.

Ahmed and his family are disgusting human beings.  Ahmed tried to pass off a commercial clock as his own work.  And he deliberately tried to provoke a reaction by making his fraud resemble a bomb.

Clock Boy Returns: MSM Repeats 'Homemade' Myth

Remember Ahmed the Clock Boy? He was the high school student arrested and suspended last year when he brought a disassembled clock to school in Texas because it was suspected to be a bomb. Young Ahmed Mohamed was hailed in much of the mainstream media at the time as a genius because he supposed made a digital clock. Well, that turned out to be completely untrue. Far from being a budding Einstein, Ahmed merely removed a clock from its plastic casing and then placed it into a pencil case. After loudly drawing attention to his "invention," he was sent to the principal's office because of zero tolerance policy for possible weapons. After much media hype about Ahmed, he and his family moved to Qatar from which they have returned to pursue a lawsuit.
