French president Francois Hollande insisted Friday that France has been hardened by recent militant attacks and that the tougher security imposed makes the country ideal for the 2024 Olympics.

Hollande met in Rio with International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach on a two-day visit to the Brazilian city where the 2016 Games start Friday.

I suppose the Olympics would be France's reward for showing the rest of the western leaders how martial law is accomplished. Hollande actually said: "The whole world is under threat from terrorism. No region, no country, no city can think they are immune." It is reminiscent of Terry Gilliam's Brazil, with terrorism everywhere and the real terrorists getting a pass.
My understanding of the French, based on this reading:

is that they are more like cats than sheep, so if it worked there it will work anywhere.  Imagine it, the whole world under threat from "terror" and "warming". Really we are under threat from paying rotten egg heads too much mind.
