I think Section 4 of the 25th Amendment  lays out a clear process.  (Recommended reading for those concerned with Mr. Trump's (or Sec. Clinton's) stability.)  If it became necessary, Gov Pence would be a solid replacement.

He would do in a Pence.... are we talking Impeachment.... never too early with Rubber Room Donald.

Not talking about impeachment.  The 25th amendment contains a provision for a declaration of incapacity by members of the administration.  Google search for 25th amendment.  Recommended reading if you are concerned about the president going off the rails.

Amendment 25 - Presidential Disability and Succession

1. In case of the removal of the President from office or of his death or resignation, the Vice President shall become President.

2. Whenever there is a vacancy in the office of the Vice President, the President shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.

3. Whenever the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that he is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, and until he transmits to them a written declaration to the contrary, such powers and duties shall be discharged by the Vice President as Acting President.

4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

Thereafter, when the President transmits to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives his written declaration that no inability exists, he shall resume the powers and duties of his office unless the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive department or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit within four days to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office. Thereupon Congress shall decide the issue, assembling within forty eight hours for that purpose if not in session. If the Congress, within twenty one days after receipt of the latter written declaration, or, if Congress is not in session, within twenty one days after Congress is required to assemble, determines by two thirds vote of both Houses that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall continue to discharge the same as Acting President; otherwise, the President shall resume the powers and duties of his office.

One other thing. I really don't know how that will happen in time to stop anyone from playing with the 'football'.

Given how obviously unhinged our Moslem in Chief is, I wonder how many COs of nuclear installations and Ohio-class submarines would in fact launch when told to.

Remember, launching is not automatic.  These are simply passwords and codes, to confirm the order is coming from the CinC.

Whether the CinC is himself authentic, is now another question.

People are good at following orders.

Maybe.

But military officers, especially senior officers, are not Boston liberal sheeple.

They're trained to take orders - and to implement them.  And the responsibility of power - that they can be held to account for blindly following orders.

In any event, they once were taught that.  When I was a kid, WWII and Nuremberg were only thirty years past.

I agree.   Here is the ONLY upside for me.   I live in Oklahoma.  There is NO WAY that this state will vote for Hillary.

We live one hour from Oklahoma (we are in Texas) and we go to Oklahoma once every week.  Thank you so much for WinStar casino.  I won $1,100 there last week.  Will go there tomorrow for this week's trip.  We also go to Choctaw casino in Oklahoma, an hour and a half away.  Texans take their money out of Texas and give it to Oklahoma because Texas thinks they should be able to restrict how we spend our money.  Texas is wrong so we do as others and give it to Oklahoma.

Casinos are "day care" for seniors.  I am 83, Bob is 81, and we are in good physical shape.  The majority of people at casinos, are senior citizens.  Many are using canes, hobbling without canes, and in wheel chairs, some electric, some manual, pushed by family members.  Casinos give them a way to have fun, put some excitement in their life in a safe environment and they stay cool in this hot summer.  When we see one having trouble for some reason, we help him/her.

Thank you, Oklahoma.

Isaiah 5:20New King James Version (NKJV)

Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness;
Who put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

It is hard for me to grasp that Trump supporters find this presidential.  Donald Trump only orchestrated this opportunity for him to trash Ted Cruz again.  He continues by giving credit to a tabloid.  Trump believes the tabloid is credible.  This is the guy that trashes media on a regular basis but a rag that post gossip and alligator boys is credible.  He was up there thinking that people would get entertainment out of his further bashing of Ted Cruz and his family.  Some will just like Isaiah 5:20 says.  And Woe to Pence who I watched during this trashing to see if I could find a bit of confusion, or disagreement with Trump in his face.  No, nothing.  He stood there like he agreed.  Unbelievable.  That is what our country has come to.  Two men and the tabloids.

I went five years without a normal sleep cycle, working wellsight, but not so sleep deprived as the earlier example I mentioned by any stretch. In that time I got so I could fall asleep any time I had a chance to sit still and had nothing to do. I could also awaken and be functional at any time, and frequently slept for periods of 2-3 hours, woke up, checked things over, and went back to sleep. After those five years, the oil boom stopped for me, one too many rigs laid down.  In the year since then I have not completely reestablished sleep patterns.

I have just found this reply of yours.  Finding answering posts is not easy on this forum.  I click the thingy on my profile page to see answers to my posts but it doesn't go to the actual posts, just identifies threads.  I hate this searching for answering posts.  So there is my rant on that.

Thanks for taking the time to write about your sleep.  My Bob does exactly what you do about sleep.  He is an earth scientist/geologist, and traveled the world finding oil.  On a ship, he was responsible for all the company employees on that ship and seldom could sleep as something was always happening.  He learned to sleep in spurts - if there was a short quiet time, he dropped off to sleep.  He still does that today.  Will sit down on the couch and he is out almost immediately.  May sleep 5-10-15 minutes and is ready to go when he awakes.   I envy his ability to do that.

We are both night people, going to bed late.  And, it is my opinion, no one should be anywhere until at least 11:00 am. in the morning.   I never make morning appointments unless it is absolutely the only time to be somewhere.

Again, thanks for telling me about your sleep.

@Victoria33 Maybe that will help you find this reply. I have been admittedly remiss about that.
My situation was similar to Your Bob's (I am also a geologist--maybe it's part of the profession), only I probably had a bit less responsibility (smaller crew+fewer problems).

I usually only had to make steering decisions on the well or awoke just to check on things.

I like the schedule y'all keep and would do the same given the opportunity.

I'd never want casino gambling in Texas. Nor legal child prostitution, which would be such an economic boon for poor single mothers.

He also said let Russia handle Syria, and with his attack on NATO he is pretty much signalling a green light for Russia to invade its neighbors like Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

If Casinos were such a great economic driver, Detroit would be a boomtown about now.

If Casinos were such a great economic driver, Detroit would be a boomtown about now.

Casinos create no wealth.  They TRANSFER wealth from tourists or other visitors/victims to the House - and of course their employees; what is left goes to shareholders.

In Nevada's case, plenty of wealth that would never reach the formerly-sleepy railroad village of Las Vegas, was channeled there.  The gambling environment promised visitors something they could not get at home - just about all forbidden vices were available in Vegas, legal or otherwise.  Sports betting, casino gambling, lax prostitution laws (in the past) and even liquor laws.  If you wanted to buy a six-pack of beer at five in the morning and then drink it sitting on a bus bench on the sidewalk...you could.

That goes away when casino gambling comes to other towns.  Atlantic City, not Las Vegas, should be the lesson to learn.  Lacking the draw of an exotic otherworldly location, and surrounded by urban ills...Atlantic City drew fewer visitors; visitors with less money to leave behind...mostly elderly tour-package visitors arriving by bus.

From there, Detroit casino gambling and Indian reservation gambling.  Now it's the norm.  Why go to Vegas?

In Detroit's case, there IS little money in the city that's going to be drawn to gamble; and almost no attraction to out-of-towners.  Those in the area who want to gamble as a diversion, can find Windsor far cleaner.

The world has changed.  Gambling is everywhere and with the InternetZ, online prostitution is as common in Peoria as in Las Vegas.  And only a fool would drink in public, Las Vegas or Cleveland, these days.

Gambling as a way to resuscitate an area or a city, is folly.  Proven again and again.  Only riding on other attractions, and today not even so much, can it pay - and perhaps not enough to outweigh the social costs.

In NATO, the problem is Erdogan. If he sides with ISIS/ISIL, and the Russians attack, then what?

I think the alliance with Turkey needs to be rethought, and this is coming from someone who might not be here if the Turkish Brigade hadn't relieved my Father's unit in Korea. The US Army had written them off, and those who could fight were rolling grenades down the hill into the ChiComs coming up the ridge, and using the last of the ammo they'd policed off the dead and those too badly wounded to fight. Two guys walked down afterwards, the rest were litter cases or for GR.

Yes, Starstruck, football players get hurt but no Texan would want to get rid of football. No law will be made to stop kids playing football, however, there is a law in Texas that prevents a casino being in Texas.

geroni, You don't have to gamble, no one is making you do it, but you should not have the right to make a law about the way I spend my money.  Liberals want to take away rights and that is what you are doing when you prevent gambling in Texas.   You are just like the mayor of New York City who stopped people from buying a large drink - he determined how people could spend their money.

Every day there are casino busses in Texas taking people, mostly seniors, to Oklahoma and Louisiana to enjoy their day where they want to be, doing what they want.

Our lives are way too regulated by government and that includes every person who wants to stop someone else living his/her life the way he/she wants.  I am old enough to remember when people could do what they wanted with their money and their lives.  Those days are gone forever.  Who is John Galt?

Turkey is going to make peace with Russia, against us. Russia is planning a new Gazprom pipeline through Turkey because they don't want to keep paying Ukraine to use the other one.

I'm not paying taxes to a government that runs a state lottery? Who knew?

Those new casinos will drag down society, create more horrible neighborhoods, be bad influences for children and they won;t help the economy one bit.

Quote

Same argument that perverts and child molesters and every other evil thing use. Always the result is to drag down society. It's a good thing nobody is making me live in society I guess. Why should I have any say on the matter of society?

One day when we step over the unconscience drugged out bodies of child prostitutes to get into 7-Eleven to get a slushie (the kind without infused cocaine for me) and we try not to stare when someone is grabbing a little girls hand and pulling her toward the whatever bathrooms we will all be able to feel better knowing that it's none of our freaking business what our 14-year old daughter was doing at 3AM.

Who are we to judge? Heck, why elect lawmakers? Why have judges?

Legalize everything. Woo-hoo, 24-hours a day of THE PURGE.

But, if you don't want to take part, you don't have to.
