Michelle Obama's speech Monday at the Democratic National Convention will not come under fire by the GOP, the chief strategist for the Republican National Committee said Tuesday.
"I think the first lady is off bounds," Sean Spicer told reporters, according to The Washington Post.
He called her remarks in Philadelphia — which defended President Barack Obama, endorsed Hillary Clinton and indirectly attacked GOP nominee Donald Trump — mostly non-political.
"She was not giving, for the most part, a partisan speech — and I think the first lady is off-limits," Spicer said.
He said that Michelle Obama "gave a great speech if you're a Democrat."
Spicer added that Obama was a "phenomenal first lady" and a "great wife, a great mother."
However, "We don't go after the first lady," he said. "Full stop."
