French President Francois Hollande told U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May that Britain faces a choice: Accept unlimited immigration from the European Union or lose access to its single market.

“There can be no free movement of goods, free movement of capital, free movement of services if there is no free movement of people,” Hollande said at a joint press conference in Paris Thursday. “It will be for the U.K. to chose: Stay in the single market and allow freedom of movement or have another status.”

May’s first venture abroad as prime minister, a week after taking the job, has been marked by personal warmth from the leaders of Germany and France but little in the way of concessions. Instead, she is beginning to get a picture of how tough the coming Brexit negotiations will be.

June’s referendum on leaving the EU “had a very clear message that we should introduce some control for the free movement of people,” she said, adding that she intended to deliver on that. “We also want to get the right deal on the trade in goods and services,” she said. “These matters will be matters for the negotiation.”

Hollande agreed, saying, “This is the most crucial point.”

Well Britannia, what do you think of them blackmail terms?  "Freedom of movement" now couches the unfettered immigration of muslims throughout Europe.
Throwing our allegiances to political parties in the long run gave away our liberty.

The UK is better off without the EU market.

The EU is over-regulated and over-protectionist.

The poor Brits didn't think this through. They had an agreement with the EU to accept only a limited number of "immigrants", which is why the Muslims have piled up in Calais, across the Channel. France is holding them. However, France has said that as soon as the UK is officially out of the EU, they're going to release all of these Muslim "immigrants" and put them on the train to England.

Also, the U.K.has done enormously well with the trade deals, and also needs Eastern European and other workers to do the work that their lazy welfare class won't do - I was there a couple of weeks ago, and believe me, if these people are forced to leave the UK, every hotel, restaurant and service business is going to have to shut down.

They don't need more illiterate, criminal Muslims, but that's what they're going to get.

As far as the controls, the EU needs to loosen up on some things - but the environmental nonsense in England is actually because of bizarre UK laws, sponsored by someone whom May has reappointed. So the EU has nothing to do with that. EU laws are crazy, but many countries, such as England, actually went one step further

The Brexit slogan sounded great, but it was meaningless and nobody thought this through. And their cowardly politicians didn't raise their heads at all.

They are better off out of that protectionist, overregulated hell.

Getting out of that Soviet plantation and embracing national sovereignty again is exactly what needed to happen.

Countries are lining up to make trade deals with England.

Maybe you should find out more about it. They had leverage and could probably have negotiated changes - but a lot of the over-regulation comes from the English government itself, and Teresa May appears quite happy to continue this.

The Germans have too much of a presence in the EU, but there's a lot of feeling against them and they could have been made to back down. However, the Brits basically did the old cut off your nose to spite your face move. This is not good, and i hope they can figure our some way to work around it.

I go to Europe a lot, and believe me, the place has benefitted from the EU. There were definitely changes that needed to be made to the EU structure, but GB has lost its ability to make any demands and instead is going to lose the good things it was getting and still have the same problems it had before.

Nobody thought this Brexit proposal was going to pass and people voted for it to "make a statement" that they were unhappy with some EU things. But unfortunately, the organizers also didn't think it was going to pass, so when it did, they also had no plan.

They will get a better deal with the EU after exit than before. I have no doubt about that.
