It has always been my view that this fascination with "Pledges" started by Grover Norquist, I believe, has done much to erode the confidence of the American electorate in their political leaders. At one time a politician was elected based on his character, we elected the candidate not for his view on a particular issue but because we could trust him to do the right thing whatever the issue in the future.

Today some demand a contractual relationship with their politicians which is really kind of silly in my view. I'd far rather elect a politician who will do the right thing when an issue presents itself  than a self serving politician thinking he's going to violate some pledge he signed and won't get reelected...

I'm listening to Rush and I listen to him almost daily and I am not hearing the things you guys are claiming he said.  Amazing how the perception of what Rush says can be so different for his listeners.  Rush always seems to be fair, IMO.  And I haven't heard him go full-Trumpist.

While saying he thought Cruz hurt his future political career, Rush was a lot more fair to Cruz than all the other Trumpbots on FOX news and elsewhere who simply can't believe someone would stand on their principles and shun expediency.

I agree.  I was listening to Rick Roberts after Rush today.  And I had to turn the radio off.  Won't be listening to him again.  He is fully on board the Trump Train.  After last nite's fiasco, he has just lost a listener.

I've said before - if that happens, the Dominos delivery driver will wind up being voted President.

That driver will likely be sober (or at least know when not to be drunk), not a druggie (munchies don't get pizzas delivered), and someone who can be trusted with money.

That's a hell of a lot better than the average fare in DC.

I firmly believe that Trump cut a deal with McConnell whereby McConnell smoothed things over with the insiders in exchange for Trump attempting to destroy Cruz personally and professionally. It has to frost them both that Cruz is still standing and standing stronger than before.
