Some Cruz supporters show they can not carry on a conversation once again without being inflammatory:
No, nothing like this. Some of us are loyal, we vote for the Bushes, McCains, Romney. We know the anti-Romney sentiment probably helped there be a 2nd term for Obama; they hence, helped give us Trump. Some are pragmatic and know they won't get the perfect candidate.
Loyal to what? Not principle, surely, or the Republican Party wouldn't be on a heading of 270.
If you are loyal to the Party, right or wrong, what's to stop it from being wrong?
Nothing but those who dissent from the constant drift to Port the Party has had since Reagan.
I can't remain loyal to a Party that does not espouse my principles--that's why I'm not a Democrat, a Communist, or a Socialist, either.
Until this campaign, I considered myself a Republican. That's only since Goldwater ran for President, but it ends this year.
As many here are fond of saying "I didn't leave the Republican Party, it left me.", and it did so by incremental moves, all the while decrying those of us who disagreed with those incrementally more Liberal stances as being 'disloyal'.
Well, maybe you disagree, but to me the greatest loyalties I have are to God, Family, and Country, and in that order. Within those three institutions I find the basis for the principles I hold dear, ones which there is no room for compromise.
When a political party conflicts with those principles it is my duty to either seek to change it back to being in line with those principles or to abandon it if it will not change.
My voice has not been alone in this, many have sought to return the GOP to Constitutional, moral, and fiscally sound practice, not just lip service at best, and we have been resolutely rebuffed in that.
So be it. My principles haven't changed. The Constitution hasn't changed. My God hasn't changed. Not one word of scripture has changed. And if you spend more money than you have that result hasn't changed.
All that has changed is the Republican Party's demonstrated approach to those principles. Ignore, Ignore, Ignore, and Deny.
Nothing there left to be loyal to, imho.
